About Russia. Do you think it could turn into a world war or that it will just blow over. I’m pretty worried myself. Putin will not want to go down without a fight.

That would require the entire chain of command to accept that order. I am not sure if the senior officers would actually pass it down the chain of command. I think there would be a reasonable chance they decide to replace the head of the chain that gave the order.

The uk a island so war for us isn’t really that consering at all as it will be pretty hard to roll in a full platoon off tanks and such

More than likely it be air stikes or a nuke that’s leached

For the most part off the uk is safe

Center belt Scotland isn’t though it be they first target

No, not even slightly. If there was any real possibility this would escalate, there would have been immediate mobilisation of forces.

Although, would say this. Isn’t it super handy that we all know how to stay at home under quarantine now incase nukes do start going off..

Unfortunately as concerning it all is out there, you, I or anyone below the rank of General or Minister for Something can't exactly do much. Waving flags at football and shining lights on buildings is in reality pointless.

Yes, Putin is unhinged.

Yes, he won't go quietly

In my mind the better the Ukrainian people defend themselves will make Putin worse unfortunately.

We all live in hope that top top ranking Russian Military will see that missiles flying about the planet is pointless and someone overthrown Putin from the inside

My gut feeling is that he will want to take things so far and then negotiate. Thus returning his army (and himself) as heroes to the people for "saving" them.

I was worrying before all this with the energy hike and people having far less disposable income. Last week at work was the busiest since eat out to help out and I put it down to people having a case of the "fuck its" and making the most of having a few quid in their pocket before the hit comes hard. If prices go up much more, more and more folk will be stripping back to bare essentials and dining out ain't one of them.

That'll mean me totally on my arse and in search of a new job along with the other 40,000 people our company employs.

So here I am trying to think of a new career that's essential, doesn't cost anything to train in and has incredibly flexible training that I can do around shift work where those shifts can change daily. Pretty dire.

I'm very concerned that the poor sods in Ukraine have been attacked due to not voting the way Putin wanted.

If we believe in self determination and democracy and the right of a country to be free to choose its own direction then yes I am concerned that Russia is choosing to violate all this and Ukraine whilst brave will suffer for years if not decades to resist and recover from this war of aggression.

If if properly kicks off to the extent of a nuclear war we won't be here so best to not worry & live your life.

Our cost of living will be hugely affected so that is a concern but due to muppets like Boris & Starmer plus the very woke world we & Europe now portray it's no surprise Putin feels empowered & Bidens USA are the complete Woke joke.

Soon the women & children first will be deemed sexist but changed to women, children & transgenders.

It's atrocious but there's little I can do about it.

It's better for the world to realise the real Putin, sooner rather than later though. He has kindred spirits for self-obsessed, narcissistic leaders, who care nothing for their people - Trump, Bolsonaro, etc. It may help to weaken their grip.

I don't know how this will end but he will have a strategy for retaining his power

Yes, I think we should all be concerned

* for all the people living in Ukraine at present

* for all of those displaced and the stress they are going through

* for the far reaching consequences across the world if he goes full out on weaponry

* for the children caught up in it

* for the financial repercussions for all countries

Blah blah blah …. Lots of reasons

The week (so far) that changed the world and opened everyone’s eyes to war even in 2022

Sadly they have only realised later. We have spent 30 years pouring money into Russia and even today the west is still buying Russian oil and gas.

Free markets only work when they are with free nations. Sadly our free markets have been aiding countries strategically opposed to freedom.

The greed for easy money and low bills, is now being paid for by Ukrainian lives.

But this is no shock we all saw it coming, they invaded crimeia and Georgia and we all carried on as if they were just a dodgy bloke from the pub.

Russia has possioned people using radioactive material, putting innocents at high risk and even death. But still we ignored it.

There have been many Russian cyber attacks and we tolerate it as the price for cheap oil.

If you fund nations who are strategically opposed to our way of life we can't be surprised when they attack.

Putins worry is not nato or even the welfare of russian speakers.

He knows nato would never attack Russia.

It is the proliferation of freedom and liberty on his doorsteps. Such ideas are a danger to his regime and how he wants Russia to run.

This is the threat he wants to hold back from his boarders.

As usual Putin is pushing the boundaries in a show of childish Russion strength (not everything is on the news) yet other countries are obviously wary of starting a war with him. The history of Ukraine goes some way to explaining his actions (this is virtually an internal struggle) but under no circumstances justifies it....

I don't think it will go nuclear in the conventional sense. We've seen repeatedly in the past that there are cooler heads at the actual launch controls.

My main concern is to do with Russia's apparent rush to capture Chernobyl on the first day. That has the potential to be turned into the world's largest dirty bomb that Putun can threaten large swathes of Europe with.

Without Putin his war mongering generals would have free reign to do whatever they like. And there is the possibility his replacement would be just as bad if not worse. Then there is the logistics of getting a sniper or two within range and finding those willing to take on such a suicide mission so deep within Russia...

Putin needs to feel he has won. How the world let’s him do that, I don’t know. The longer the invasion goes on, the less support he will have from his inner circle. The financial restrictions on Russia are starting to bite. My only concern is if Putin attacks a NATO country. We are all in trouble then.

It depends of the limit of his personal ambitions and if he's aware of Russian's real limits (and has the state of mind to understand them).

He wants to rebuild the Soviet Union and will likely to attack other ex-states. Ukraine is probably already lost unfortunately, they don't have the resources to compete with Russia over a long period, even though they're putting up a valiant fight now. But most ex Soviet states are now affiliated with, or members of, NATO. If he attacks an affiliate, it'll be tense, if he attacks a member then it'll be WW3. Xx
