I wonder, Is it rude?

My nan’s spare room.

Is it rude when providing donations of clothing in those charity bags, is it rude to put underwear in without washing it first?

I’m a bit concerned about the things I wonder about at times.

As long as you include a certificate of authenticity they should be able to auction yours at their special website

Yes, very rude. I worked in a charity shop once and sadly I found out that too many people think that's an OK thing to do.

Thing is, if you’re donating your Solomon Grundies surely they could spray a bit of fabreeze on for you couldn’t they.

I think quite a few places will only take new and unused underwear? Definitely rude to put any unwashed and dirty clothes in there in my opinion.

In the west.

Maybe the charities will employ a professional knicker sniffer.

I don't know about down south but in Scotland, they don't take underwear. I used to volunteer for a charity shop and they just binned them. Besides, why would you want to give pants to charity? Unless they were still in their packaging of course

Wonder if charity websites have a used underwear section on there. Could make a fortune (unless of course it was Y fronts only)

I have volunteered at charity shops. You would not believe what people think acceptable as a donation

Someone donated a blow up tree but really it just looked like a dildo. There was a lot of laughing that day

Oh wow really? I donate clothes often but only really give things that actually are in decent quality and of course are clean!

. But seriously though, whatever it is just wash it, dust it and make sure it's in good repair. Nobody wants your filthy old rubbish.

Exactly. I don't know if they still do but they used to sell rags to the modern day equivalent of a rag and bone man.

For the record, I do whenever recycle clothes through charities when possible and always ensure it is something that will sell on.

I have given older more worn but very wearable clothes especially coats to homeless people, never underwear though.

Charity is a very difficult thing to be on the receiving end of. I'm very aware of that whenever I make any sort of donation and I'm careful as far as possible to allow recipients their dignity.

I think you only realise this if you've been on the receiving end.
