Do you ever watch programmes and think the swearing is ruining it?

Here and there the occasional ‘gosh darn it’ or ‘flaming heck’ add a certain flavour, but when every third word is ‘muthafuckinbitchbastardcuntycockwomblebag’ i start to despair.

I think that's highly unlikely, it seems to be the only way a lot of people know how to express themselves.

. Depending on the tone and expression it can express extreme distaste or extreme approval

Sorry to say it isnt going to go away, the more realistic and gritty programmes and movies get it becomes a necessity to define the characters you're engaging with...a gun-toting crack dealer isnt going to be polite as he's putting a .50 calibre bullet through your head....graphically I might add

Yes it is. I don't allow sweating in my class, unless it is used in a context where it is used to emphasise a point.

I listen to the wireless a lot, mainly radio 4 extra in the evenings. They run quite a few old crime dramas set anywhere between 1930 and the 1970's, was listening to one all last week, The Paul Temple Mysteries. The worst profanity in it was when he exclaimed 'bye Timothy!'.

I know it's not nice hearing it. Unfortunately I'm guilty of swearing a lot, believe it or not. I get it from my dad as I used to hear him swearing when I was a wee girl and it's got worse as I've got older x

Hate it in films and tv shows that are primarily aimed at kids. Latest Star Trek series and Xmen films have swearing when I don’t think it’s justified. Doesn’t add anything to the dialog. Won’t be long before Dr Who says “fucking cunty bollocks”
