Had your parents already made their minds up before you were born what they were going to call you had you been the opposite sex?

I was going to be called Hannah.

What about you?

Well I was supposed to be a twin, but turns out we battled to the death and I won, consuming my opponent in the process.

Then my parents told I was going to be a girl, but that didn't turn out correct either.

I'd have been a Michael.

Glad I wasn't as I always get the a and e the wrong way round when I try and spell it.

I could have had problems as I was born in the 60's so no scans as such..

My dad was positive I was going to be a girl..& luckily I was, though my first name & middle name could have been joined for a boy..

I would have been Ian, if I was a boy.

My parents were so convinced baby number 2 was going to be a boy, they didn't think of any girls names. My sister was nameless for 2 weeks

My grandmother had a big say in my name. I have no idea what I’d have been named if a boy.

However, I’m Scottish obviously, and we tended to be more conservative when it comes to names. So when my mother was pregnant with the twins (my younger brother and sister), I was horrified when she said the boy was going to be called Will! It just seemed so ‘out there’, as far as names go, at a time when most boys seemed to be called James or John! I pecked her head about it for months, as I didn’t want to be the girl with the weirdly named wee brother

So I was delighted when she ended up settling for James!

It just goes to show you how things have changed, and Will would nowadays be a perfectly acceptable name. Still more common in England than Scotland though.

What a bitch. Chances are, she’d have done the same to a boy about wanting a girl. Some people are just rotten.
