On a night out with vanilla friends, we were chatting and we told them we were swinger's. Their reaction was positive and they grateful that we told them. A few questions on the lifestyle and a lot of laughs, though nothing has changed between the four of us and we are still very good friend's.

Have you told someone and got the same reaction as us or have you lost friends because you told them the truth.

Only my close inner circle and they only know the bare bones of it. Vanilla monogamous people can be very distrustful of sexually sharing activities, often the old stealing husbands view rears its head

One of my best friends know and I shared quite a bit with them - he found it funny but then he randomly told me that he was going to sleep with a girl, behind his partners back and asked my opinion

I think he thought that as we sleep with others that my morals would be different and I’d be supportive…I wasn’t and told him what a dick he was.

There’s a massive difference between doing it with your partners consent and doing it behind their back…so it’s skewered our friendship

Most of my vanilla friends know, along with work colleagues and some of my family! I don't hide it or announce it, if someone asks the question I'll always answer it truthfully! Most people guessed to be honest!

My friends know and think its great that I've got something to do - they were a bit worried about me for a while after I split from my ex, so they're very supportive and intrigued by it. Obviously they only know I do it in general, no breach of discretion at all.

I told one VERY good friend that I had an open mind and did not want a partner. The conversation also got around to me confiding that I didn't judge people on the kind of sex they preferred and that barely anything was a no go.

Unfortunately this was interpreted as ' You can do fucking anything to me I don't mind' .......

You guessed.... it was a bloke. I was disappointed. Mind you , so was he when I wtf'd almost all his predilections.

No. We keep this lifestyle completely separate from friends and family.

We’d never cross the line with anyone we know, it could get horribly messy.

Some things are better kept private.

That’s not to say I’ve never been tempted. My friends/family probably view me as a very straight laced middle aged prim and proper lady. I often think “If only you knew!”

Perhaps the deliciousness of those thoughts is why I don’t!

Most of my friends and some family know about my kink, to different degrees. Most of my close friends I met through kink. Told the odd work colleagues down the years and no major reactions

Doesn't quite have the same edge to it as couples who full swap... does it? I class singles as shaggers

I've told my neighbour after a few drinks.

I don't regret it and she was fascinated but I'm not sure I would tell any other friends. I like to keep the equilibrium I have with them and they don't really need to know my sexual kinks. Sex is not something we generally talk about anyway

My 'PA' knows, shes also on here now

She borrowed my phone to upload some work photos up and the webpage was open shes active on the forums so no doubt will see this however we're respectful of each others privacy

Same here only close friends know we have done thos before and are rejoining this together. The old stealing bf/hubby/gf/wife view is still thought of when you mention swinging.
