Semolina v Tapioca

I tried these Ambrosia delicacies in tins to remind me of my childhood.

Ambrosia Semolina is like a fine rice pudding.

Tapioca resembles frog spawn and looks like spunk.

Tastes ok though

I bought both for the bairns thinking they would love it as I did whe I was young- nope. I had to eat them, and loved every last drop

I absolutely love all of the milk puddings, semolina is my fave but has to be made out of a packet mix. Can you still get the ambrosia macaroni one? The little mini rings! Mmmm yes please Miss pc

I used to have them at my nans. Much preferred Semolina, lovely with a bit of nutmeg

Did it taste anything like school semolina though?

I had forgotten about it, we used to have it in big shallow bowls with a blob of jam in it :D

I used to love jelly and blancmange

Blancmange was always a bugger to make though. You can buy it on Amazon still and I’m sure it much be in some supermarkets

We used to have semolina at school with a piece of shortbread. Always liked the puddings, very few of the dinners.

I have always liked both.

Something that I have not come across in Western cuisine is a savoury tapioca dish.

My mum makes an awesome for Sunday brunch tapioca, potatoes spices chill and coriander. The tapioca ok is soaked before being cooked and it's dry dish. It awesome and I am craving some now

Oh and I love bubble tea

I eat both Semolina and tapioca every week. I've just taken out the oven some homemade rice pudding thats been cooking for about 3 hours. We also had blamonge last week. I love all old school puddings.

You would never have gotten us to eat frogspawn tapioca as kids but we loved tinned semolina. Might get a tin now for the memories.
