"Youll be hard pressed to find a laptop for only 300 that isnt a piece of shit, for things like back-lit keyboards youre looking in the mid to high end range that has a nicer build finish to it. But that seems like quite a specific and minor thing to look for in a laptop considering all other aspects such as performance and battery life" Not really 3-4 year old game laptops with i7 and 1070s or 1060 would be around that price range Yes they maybe dipping in game prefromces Now with current games But for a none gamer it’s going to say more powerful than current lines off buget laptops Plus it will come with all the bells and whistles sins it was one’s a 800 to 1200 pound unit

"If your old one is working fine keep running that as by 2025 it'll need to be able to take windows 11. Things like display resolution, cpu, ram, hard drive all affect it (as far as I know). If the one you buy isn't windows 11 compatible you'll end up paying again. In a year or so there should be more choice with better hardware" Wrong beta testers have got it up and running on 15 year old laptops right now it’s backwards compatible

"I am not a gamer. I use it mainly for writing emails surfing the Web and occasionally movies or sport on sky go . I do watch videos on x hamster etc. The reason I want back-lit I sit in a dark corner and even in the day I need the main light on to see the keyboard" I know but what your not getting is game laptops are just a keyword In reality they just the very highest end things you can get so they tag line them for gamers The things you are looking for isn’t going to be on a 300 buget laptops They going to be on the high end game stuff Sins you don’t game Game performance isn’t a thing to you So your perfectly talterd to the second hand game laptop market You want high spec things at low spec prices And don’t care about game performance witch will have diped on them hence why they being sold So you get a top spec laptop 3-4 years ago at buget prices

"A separate Backlit keyboard could be bought for £20. Plug it into the usb and you can get a better set up, raise the screen into a better position etc. " I sit with it on my lap, not sure a separate keyboard would work, but thanks for the suggestion
