"Plateaued badly on deadlift. Bought some knee wraps and managed a few more reps on squats and managed 330kg on the leg press. Injured a forearm on chest day and an ankle whilst running but managed a 40kg dumbbell shoulder press for the first time. A mixed week but I’ve got 2 weeks left of bulking and then it’s a major cut before summer so I expect all lift to go down ![]() Lifts**

"Whether losing weight, just keeping fit, training for an event/competition or sport. How did it go? I squatted above 500lbs for the first time since injuring myself last year. One lift I'm struggling to get back to pre injury weights, still 150+lbs to go. Bodyweight is back up around 100kg, 12kg down still, not sure I can be arsed to gain back the size, may compete at a lower bodyweight if I ever manage to be fully injury free again." Wow, 500lbs - pretty impressive, mate! Are you an elite lifter? (Sorry if you don't want to say - not trying to embarrass you!)

Thats pretty awesome bud. I've never set foot in a gym before. Mostly home workouts. Does have its limitations though

Depends on how you define elite. 790kg total in competition, 815kg gym total before injury, already won a british title. Qualified for Europe's and worlds but covid cancelled that. Good enough to win at European level but worlds I'm way off, need a 1000kg total to be in with a chance of winning. I'd still compete to just to say I've tested myself against the best in the world

"I made it into the free weight zone!! Managed biceps, flys, chest press + skull crackers x 7kg x 8 reps x 3 sets and shoulder press x 6kg x 8 reps x3sets Arm pulley down machine (20kg each side) x 8 reps x 3 sets Pull up assist x 8 x 3 with 35kg assist . It nearly killed me.. I don't think I'll ever be able to do it unassisted ![]() You’ll do it easily. It’s amazing how quick the body adapts. Start with negative pull-ups and soon you’ll be smashing sets of 10 ![]()

We're both thinking of entering some competitions over the next year or so. Wife keeps mentioning a powerlifting comp. She's never played sport so I'm pleased for her to be taking lifting seriously in our "middle years". I played rugby for a long time, so have had a decent fix of "being competitive"; though I am interesting in Oly lifting for seniors. Might be fun, going off on holiday somewhere exotic, lifting when I'm in my 50s!

It’s working the same muscle groups and will help massively towards doing a normal pull-up.
