I've been packing up my house for a move and came across my daughter's first teddy. It got me thinking -

Did you have a favourite teddy or blanket or something else?

No. My parents wouldn’t have encouraged such dependencies. My mother was never known for her sentimentality

That said, I loved my Sindys and Barbies and all of their paraphernalia. It just wouldn’t have occurred to me to attach the same importance to a cuddly toy or blanket.

Basically, if it had no play value, I wasn’t interested in it.

One of my dad's work colleagues gave him/me a teddy a month before my birth. I think my parents still have it.

Bald,patched up,arms,legs & head been sewn back on, hardly any stuffing (it's straw)...even the Repair Shop wouldn't be able to help.

Wherever I have moved he has come with me, I love him..

I need to ask my parents but I suspect they're lost because we moved so often inc overseas. I had no attachment to my barbies. They just made me feel fat, if I recall!

My parents were never sentimental like that. I would have loved to look through all my favourite toys, artwork, schoolwork etc once I reached adulthood. It's only really photos that my mum and dad left for us.

I'm making a very good point to do this for my children. I'm not sure if I ever had a favourite teddy or blanket.

I don't have a teddy but my parents did keep schoolwork and some other things, so I try to think of what my kids might enjoy when they're older. Four of them though - so much stuff!

I had a wind-up Teddy that played a tune, called Edward but he burned in a house fire when I was 6

My childhood teddy was called Little Nev. got him in 1984 just before the FA Cup final.

Had him all this time. When I moved to Ghana, I asked my daughter to mind him till I came back, he’s lost forever

I have a monkey teddy that I lost as a child, I wouldn’t sleep without it and we couldn’t get another Tescos discontinued them after I got it. Mum phoned Tescos HQ and the lady had bought one for her son and he dident like it so she posted it over for me ?? I still have it beside my bed

If I did have something then it's long gone. I know my mother kept things but my dad would throw stuff out. Unfortunately the blanket in which I was wrapped in as a baby coming home from hospital, got thrown out. Apparently my mum was terribly upset but my dad just forgot about the significance of the baby blanket x

I had Big Ted & Little Ted (play school fan) who sat at the end of the bed, never slept with them as would get a rash. Still have Little Ted, was given to me when 3, as something to squeeze when having stitches removed from my head.

I felt sick and broken inside when he told me but knowing all the other things she has done nothing surprises me know. Although the one really puzzling thing is… we are now divorced and have been for 3 years but she still carries my surname even though she initially was against doing so and did not change it on her bank accounts causing problems when looking for a mortgage

He can make up his own mind - I find my kids do that about their dad now they're old enough. He's a very imperfect person as am I but they need to learn they can see the flaws and still love.

She’s got LOADS. And she loves them. My partner gave her all of her childhood ones and people bought lots for her of course. Maybe I will go out and treat myself actually.

I used to have a little weird multicolour parrot/alien thing. I’m not sure what it was really but I called it “gonzo” as it reminded me of the muppet character with a big beak/nose. Wish I still had it , Gonzo was so nice to cuddle at night

My gran got me a bear from Hamleys a week before I was born, in all my childhood photos, now considered a collectible! I cut his bow tie off when I was younger so only value is sentimental. Considered passing down to my kids but couldn’t, he lives on top of my wardrobe and comes down for a dusting every now and then. Aptly named - Hamley Bear.
