I've been packing up my house for a move and came across my daughter's first teddy. It got me thinking -

Did you have a favourite teddy or blanket or something else?

AND do you still have it?

No. My parents wouldn’t have encouraged such dependencies. My mother was never known for her sentimentality

That said, I loved my Sindys and Barbies and all of their paraphernalia. It just wouldn’t have occurred to me to attach the same importance to a cuddly toy or blanket.

Basically, if it had no play value, I wasn’t interested in it.

I need to ask my parents but I suspect they're lost because we moved so often inc overseas. I had no attachment to my barbies. They just made me feel fat, if I recall!

My parents were never sentimental like that. I would have loved to look through all my favourite toys, artwork, schoolwork etc once I reached adulthood. It's only really photos that my mum and dad left for us.

I'm making a very good point to do this for my children. I'm not sure if I ever had a favourite teddy or blanket.

Haha just a turn of phrase. It was well before my 33rd birthday I gave it up at least!

I do think it's linked to my woman in lingerie kink as I like to touch and run my fingers on their lacy and silky bits like I did with my blanket.

Unfortunately the blanket in which I was wrapped in as a baby coming home from hospital, got thrown out. Apparently my mum was terribly upset but my dad just forgot about the significance of the baby blanket x

"I don’t have a childhood teddy but I do have one I’ve had for years in adulthood. I’d be devastated if I ever lost it, like a family pet!

Cwazy, innit? "

Nope. Perfectly normal I think. I don't care how old I am!

"Yes in the loft… given to me from George Cole lol

From Minder George Cole?

The Teddy used to sing him to sleep, "I could be so good for you. I'll be there right by your side. Love you like you want me to""

I'm going to have that song in my head all night now. I'm so embarrassed to say I bought the single!!

On a mooch

I had Big Ted & Little Ted (play school fan) who sat at the end of the bed, never slept with them as would get a rash. Still have Little Ted, was given to me when 3, as something to squeeze when having stitches removed from my head.

Sheeba- one of those bears that let out a little roar when you tipped it backwards and forwards.

Will either be in my mums loft collecting dust with all my other childhood stuff that she'll one day sell or she will have already burnt it all

Gund, because that was on the name tag he came with.

Turns out it's the soft toy maker name, and the official soft toy dog namen is Muttsy.

I had a koala teddy that was handed down to me by my grandma. It was her mums before me. I gave it to my son when he was born.

So that was 5 generations or over 100 year old.

My X got rid of the teddy from my son after I left. She really is a nice person.

My gran got me a bear from Hamleys a week before I was born, in all my childhood photos, now considered a collectible! I cut his bow tie off when I was younger so only value is sentimental. Considered passing down to my kids but couldn’t, he lives on top of my wardrobe and comes down for a dusting every now and then. Aptly named - Hamley Bear.
