Storm Franklin

Jump to newest

South Wales

Yet another named storm arriving today, finger's crossed it won't be as disruptive as Eunice, though Franklin has only a yellow warning it will still hamper the clean up operations already ongoing and travel disruption for many. Think the storm is on the same path as before as South Wales has a warning in place again.

That was for tropical revolving storms these are just our usual gales of varying strengths.

“Eunice” was a violent storm 11 on the Beaufort scale. Not quite a “hurricane”.

I don’t actually care.

Let the news consumers have their fun.

Don't mind the naming either, its easier to identify which one caused damage if you are making a claim, I expect the claims are going to be high and cost us all some way or other.

It's been far worse here today than with the Eunice one. We got sent to WFH on Friday but really, there was no need here. If today had been a work day, I'd have said it was more important to avoid travelling today. The rain was like someone throwing full buckets of water on your head. Local roads are flooded and the wind is far blowier than anything on Friday.

What? Because, fire, floods, extreme heat cycles speeding up and melting ice caps are not doing the job?

It's a useful tagging system for different weather fronts and gets people to notice them, potentially preserving life and enabling preparation.

1987 ended up being known as the Great Storm, but I've heard people call it the Michael Fish storm. We name things. This just keeps it consistent.
