Now, this is a story all about how

My sex-life got flipped, turned upside down

And I'd like to take a minute

Just sit right there

I'll tell you why I'm posting this right here

In the West Midlands, born and raised

On the forums are where I spend most of my days

Chillin' out, whackin', playin' the fool

And shootin' some spunk outside of my tool

When a couple of girls who looked really good

Turned out to live near to my neighbourhood

I messaged one the other night and and it said "Read"

She replied "You must be joking, you've got a bald head!"

I winked at the other and sent a face pic

Cos' their profile said "Please, no more pictures of dicks"

If anything I thought this profile was rare

But I thought "Nah, forget it, maybe she won't care"

I pulled up to her house about seven or eight

And I yelled to the cabbie "Yo holmes, smell ya later"

I looked at my manhood

I was finally there

But she sat on my face as I gasped for air...

by the big field

I grew up with a lot of the original stuff of the 80's/90's- so Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash through to The Beasties, Public Enemy & Snoop.

Everyone had their own style and sound and seemed to be pushing the boundaries in some way.

Current stuff in comparison is utter bilge, sounds like it was squirted out of a production line like some cheap Europop by clowns who all seem have the same look and personality- apart from Kanye (or whatever he's called this week), who just seems to be a mentally unstable walking ego.

The whole genre has become a giant parody of itself devoid of any class or innovation

Completely disagree with the bit about music nowadays. I think the beauty of rap is in its evolution through time and how it has come to be so many different sub genres. There’s also plenty of rappers that are different and have different sounds and play about with different things.

I have to disagree with your comment. While musically It may appeal to the current generations, a lot of it is manufactured and created just to appeal to the masses. There’s nothing wrong with that but, it’s just not as raw and pure anymore. It’s all people in suits saying do this and don’t do that, say this and don’t say that. As I’ve mentioned it now appeals to the masses but, still not my cup of tea

I hear you. But a lot of the rawness of rap is and will always be underground. Rap will always belong to the streets as the artists say. That music, that’s a reflection of the worlds that the artists live, still exists and it’s still accessible. You just aren’t going to hear it on the radio. Imo

It’s on Netflix. There’s 4 series but only a few episodes in each. It starts at the beginning of hip hop, late 70’s/early 80’s house and block parties and covers everything up to modern hip hop. I like to think I know a lot about the genre but this showed me so much I hadn’t already seen.

Depends on the lyrics mainly.

If they're talking about how amazing they are, how much money and swag they have then not for me ta.

Now, if they're telling me a story with a message that will benefit the universe or make me laugh then sound.

I'm the same. But for me it's more about the beat than the lyrics. Generally people who chat rubbish have crap beats.

The difference is the underground and commercial bullhonk. Who knows why people talking about degrading women, money and bling is more popular than deep meaningful lyrics. Always baffeled me

If you haven’t already watched it stick Hip Hop Evolution on. A lot of artists I didn’t really like but when you see how they’ve helped shape the genre you gain a lot of respect for them.

Yeah great show that is presented by Shad. Shad is a beast with his bars! Up there with the best of them in my opinion"

He’s amazing. You can see by his reaction to the stories being told just how much he loves hip hop.

"I grew up with a lot of the original stuff of the 80's/90's- so Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash through to The Beasties, Public Enemy & Snoop.

Everyone had their own style and sound and seemed to be pushing the boundaries in some way.

Listen to his music if you've not done already. His album the old Prince is so good. Definitely worth a listen

"Depends on the lyrics mainly.

Always baffeled me"

Give Tom MacDonald a listen on YouTube, he may not be for everyone but he spits out controversial facts and hard truths with a hint of satire in nearly every song and his flow is definitely on point plus you can actually hear every word he says. He's a independent artist and his gf Nova rockafella produces the videos which are really good. I'm not a fan of 'modern' rappers but this guy is different.

Without repeating many a great suggestion throughout the thread I don't believe Mos Def or Dialted Peoples were mentioned... I've a soft spot for both.

Jedi Mind Tricks, CunninLynguists, The Roots.

This is the type of Rap / Hip Hop I can get behind too - Old School all the way. You might be interested to know that KRS-One released a new album just last week. It's called IM A MC RU12 and it's available to listen to on his You Tube channel

I’ve heard it, it’s deadly, krs one is my favorite rapper of all time, seen him twice in Ireland, first gig was his first in Ireland so he done all his hits played for 2 hours it was crazy the second one 95% of it was him just freestyling over beats, I went to a hip hop talk by him in Ireland too where he talked about hip hop and the culture of it for like an hour and 45 minutes too got to meet him and take pictures he signed some stuff for me to he’s an absolute legend, also got to see and meet masta ace too he played with lord fineness here too another legend and for there age they were the best live performers I’ve seen
