He saying about coming back to mine, I say want to take it slowly.

He says getting his last bus at 10:30pm..saying he not wanting to pay £10 taxi to his..

I say want to see how things go..

Thing is if he hadn't been pushy would have probably invited him back..

He also got arsey as had sex with someone he knows

He has by his own admission fancied me for several years..

Let's me walk off into town on my own..but I got home safely..

Just feel need to vent..sorry

Thats a hard pass for you, theres no need for guys to behave like that, if he got arsey cos you slept with someone he knows then hes insecure and while thats an issue for him to sort out, it could likely lead to shit further down the line. And yeah being pushy about going back to yours so soon into things is a red flag. Silver lining is it couldve been worse but luckily it wasnt

^ this, it can literally be a minefield at times. I’ve genuinely been scorned for simply holding a door open for a woman. I didn’t do it to be chivalrous or misogynistic, I did it as it’s a polite thing to do, and do it for men too.

Anyone who is pushy is an instant red flag, I would shut that down. If they are respectful, they will wait as long as it takes until your ready.

The walking home alone thing though? It's our responsibility to get ourselves home safe, can't put that onto a man.

Again, if I had been on a date with a guy and felt like he was a dick, the last thing I would have wanted is for him to walk me home.

Better be alone than in poor company and he seems more like a danger I'd like to avoid.

"How on earth does who you've shagged come up on a first date? "

Oh Bussy, you’re such an innocent! It goes something like this….

“What have you been up to?”

“Me and my mate Dave have been out watching the footie”

“Not Dave Tumble? From Barnsworth?”

“Yeah, that’s him!”

“OMG I’ve shagged him!!!. Nice bloke!”

“Ummmm yeah I guess”

*tumble tumble*

date ends

Or is it just me who does that?

No need to apologise. It’s a shame to hear your night turned out like that, but you’ve probably got lucky by him showing his true colours.

If a man doesn’t see me to my car, on a bus, on a train, to an airport etc., then he’s not the man for me. I expect a brief kiss and maybe a boob fondle, maximum.

I know ‘some’ men these days have dropped the chivalry as they say ‘well women want yo be equal so we are giving them equal’. But that does not mean you cannot open doors etc, that is common manners. I especially think you should NOT let a woman walk home at night alone, there is far too much sexual assault and that is the reality. By all means share the cost of a meal on a date etc, but some basic human male decency should remain

If it was me I'd forgive him for asking about sex because he knows you're on here and a sexual person.. unless he kept asking then I'd be pissed off at him being pushy and not taking no for an answer. Also that he was arsey about other people you've shagged before as that's none of his business.

I'd assume his 1.20am call was to try and change your mind and ask him round for a shag or to get some wank chat. I'd bin him off.

Think alot of you are missing the key point - what did the friend say about her? He came to the date with a preconceived notion that it was a “done deal” but didn’t like the result of having to put in more than a evenings work to have her company at night… he move desperately and realised his mistake once he got home with only his dick in his hand

I think there’s a hell of a lot of women who don’t like all that anymore. I don’t need a man I’m quite capable of looking after myself so don’t insult me types. Some of us still appreciate a gentleman though

^ this, it can literally be a minefield at times. I’ve genuinely been scorned for simply holding a door open for a woman. I didn’t do it to be chivalrous or misogynistic, I did it as it’s a polite thing to do, and do it for men too. "

Even though I'm an independent strong woman I think all the chivalry stuff is really lovely. We have court vans come into work which we have to climb up into and check - there are 2 drivers that always take my hand to help me up and then to help me down (they don't do it for my male colleagues) a third queried if it was still socially acceptable to do that so gave me a fist bump instead

Gonna ask as I’m a bit confused on the etiquette here

You say he’s not coming back with you, but you expected him to walk you home?

In my head, I’d be thinking that offering to walk them home feels like a sly attempt at getting back to theirs when they’ve clearer stated not to.

Where do guys stand on this? I’d always feel like I was over stepping the mark by walking them home in that situation?

I thought the same, it might look a bit creepy but if he explained that it was simply to ensure she got through town safely, I know I'd appreciate it very much. If I was somewhere familiar and it was safe, I'd happily go on my own.

Yeah just feels like a bit of a minefield

She said let her walk into town alone . He could have walked with her to the taxi rank. ( in the thread she says she got a taxi home). He would have come across as a more genuine guy and as she got in the taxi she could have made up her own mind what she wanted to happen next, just as she says.

Sounds like he was throwing his toys out of the pram about not being invited back & what may potentially happen after, especially after hearing about his friend (not that that should be an issue, we all have history)

If he was invited back he'd be happy to make sure you get home safe & pay £10 for his taxi later, no invite means sex is definitely off the cards so not point wasting any more time or money on this date

Sounds like you had a lucy escape, maybe the mate is still single, he sounds like a decent bloke not blabbing to his mates about who he's slept with x
