So..a fun and probably stupid dilemma. Had the most stunningly beautiful young man come to our house yesterday to carry out electrical work and despite the age difference (I would guess about 15 years younger) he was lovely to chat to,although Im sure he sees me as a harmless old bat. Nevertheless I felt a very strong physical connection, and Im sure I caught him checking me out (probably my imagination though). I definitely got caught checking him out

Anyway he is coming back next week on a day when Ill be home alone. Im excited & slightly terrified. Im 90% sure nothing will happen, but my question is this: outwith your porn scenarios(I dont need to know..) has anyone any experience of this situation? Is there a way of approaching it should I be inclined? Have any tradies been approached in this way? Should I just leave it as a fun wee fantasy on my part? I knlw its silly, but I honestly cant stop thinking about him. Ladies if you saw him you would understand.

Anyway..just getting it off my chest more than anything, but any advice (even on how to NOT do anything) would be great. Its like High school all over again.

Well, he probably was checking you out as your gorgeous, but be careful. You know nothing about him, and what happens if he comes back for more and you don't want it? His employer might get arsey too. Nothing stopping you flirting though x

In my youthful 20’s I installed door entry systems in a council block and on one occasion I, the tenant liaison and a tenant shared a lift. Long story short…the tenant made a very flirty request and asked if I could sort out her entry phone (emphasis on the entry). Tenant liaison said she’ll consider the request, after the tenant stepped out the lift and flashed a wink. The liaison looked at me and said bluntly you’re not going in her flat

Having been a 20 something, back in the day as well as having a job that included working in homes I can say for sure he would have been checking you out.

Don't go there though. It could get him into trouble at work, guys that age are likely to boast about it and his bosses would find out. He could also be the male equivalent of a bunny boiler.

This way I don’t see any harm in a flirt and chat. Maybe after you could express the feeling to him. I don’t really understand why there is such a bad feeling between living out a bit of a fantasy and a thrill. If you feel a connection why should it matter where you met. Only my opinion

If this guy is self employed as many (most?) people are, and the flirt happens on both sides, the ‘professional capacity’ side seems like it can happily be set aside - just make sure he finishes the job first, and is already paid!

Once that happens, get sweaty for me if you both want it, as consenting individuals with no reason not to other than the forum tutting.

But if she flirts with him and he doesn't flirt back it wouldn't go any further. If it was the other way around and it was a older gent that was flirting the woman would either say back off or flirt back. I don't see the issue, of its clear hes intrested then whats the problem?

Apart from any other consideration I don't think anyone should be put in the position of having to ask an employer to back off from flirting. Just because it's in your home makes you no less an employer than if you were in an office or shop.

We can spin this every way that seems most suitable for our opinion, so let’s take gender out of it, a person has done some work for another person who is a different age and one of them likes the other and thinks the other likes them. They must never speak to each other again because money once exchanged hands and regulation 13b subsection 9 states that any non formal human contact must only take place in approved public areas with good ventilation, CCTV and toilets with escape sized windows.

Where’s the human touch here? When did covering our backs become more important than behaving like humans.

As a tradesman and also having been in this situation I can say I have never felt intimidated or anything but flattered when I've felt a bit of flirting was happening, I have never initiated it but don't feel uncomfortable with it. That said sadly we are living in times of people feeling hurt, threatened and unsafe, moreso the younger generation so me being of a mature age am more old school and thick skinned. I do get what people are saying about keeping things professional but what harm is there about asking his relationship status, hobbies, general chat and even if he would like to meet outside of work hours for a drink, surely there can be no harm in that if you feel comfortable to do so, he would have no grounds to complain for you asking a simple question. If however you crept up behind him and slid your hands down his jeans maybe so but asking a simple question? I never fail to be amazed at some of the judgemental and narrow minded comments I see on a swingers site.
