Some fantastic replies guys and girls!

I feel like I want to collect something of value, but don't think I'd ever be knowledgeable enough to make it worthwhile.

I've got a few things that probably have some sort of small value but none of them interest me enough to start a collection.

Thankfully my family don't see the point in keeping stuff you don't like so I just get told to sell things I inherit that I don't need/like/want, within reason, obviously

I have a collection of Catwoman comics and memorabilia. I've got a beautiful limited edition lithograph signed by Jim Balent.

I've collected a lot of things over the years, but nothing much with any value. I have a lot of books (and have now switched to a Kindle to try to avoid amassing too many more) and a lot of CDs and DVDs.

When I was younger I collected Beanie Babies for a while. I gave 200 away to a friend's daughter last year as I was fed up with the box getting in the way, and I was about to move to a smaller house.

This is going to sound really weird to most people... but I also collected M.A.C. make-up for several years. They do a lot of limited edition items and there's a collectibles market for it. I now have more make-up than most cosmetics counters; more than I could ever use in 10 lifetimes and a lot of it unused. Some things go off, like lipsticks, but powder products last pretty much indefinitely.

I ought to sort through and work out what's sought after and sell it. I've got literally thousands of pounds worth, (certainly at cost price but probably also at resale price for what's resaleable). I have one face powder, which is an extreme example, I admit, which is really sought after and sold a couple of years ago for over £100. Prices have fallen since the financial downturn so I don't know what it fetches now. It'll have to wait until I am settled in terms of housing and health though.

I'm a pack-rat, a compulsive collector and I have far too much stuff. It's something I'm working on addressing at the moment.

I collect guitars.

Currently I have 28, I bought my last one in October (I actually bought 2 that month). Mostly old Fender's and Gibson's, the oldest is a 1958 Strat the most valuable is a 1962 Gibson Les Paul, I'm always on the look out for more. I played a Gibson Leas Paul at a guitar show in Pudsey a few weeks back that was valued at £250,000!!!....My pockets aren't quite that deep
