And often the OP themselves but what surprises me is how people keep feeding their threads. Some obviously thrive on conflict (which is different to opinion, healthy debate etc )

There is definitely a tendency with sone people only replying to the same people even if the same post has been posted by someone else only moments earlier. Not everyone is always inclusive but hopefully it's mostly about familiarity rather than intentional exclusion.

I’ve been saying for a while now that the forums have become quite toxic.

A lot of it seems to be coming from fairly new profiles, however there are always the same long standing users who constantly hijack threads and derail them.

There are some threads I avoid completely when I see who has started them.

Too many trying to be top dog.

What’s even worse are those who back them up and join in when they are being vile to be part of the clique.

We have never posted much but we post a lot less now.

The forums have started to become samey and generic threads starting - favourite colour/food/forumite and as people have mentioned, it’s become a bit spikey now.

I’m not saying about it being samey to have a dig btw - we are part of the problem in not starting different threads

No you're right and it doesn't read like a dig. We're all kind of part of the problem by not starting different threads. I'm not a long time member, nor, I expect anybody's favourite forumite, but I have stepped back because of some peoples aggressive posting. I find the worst of it comes from a small group of women. This is not misogyny on my part, as there are some unpleasant males too, but I've seen this group of PHYSICALLY attractive women piling on to people on threads, and it's ugly.

I'm afraid that no matter how hot they look, this behaviour is a massive turn off. I imagine they get away with it because some men can't see past their looks, but I find it unpleasant viewing, and it makes me uncomfortable.

I have questioned whether I should stay here because of it.

I doubt I would be a cause for concern, if I went MIA, but I had to say this, in case I do feel compelled to leave in the future.

I think people come and go and sometimes come back. I have but mainly for the forums really. But I agree with others that the forums have been a bit ugly recently and quite 'samey' with the same topics coming up again and again.

While some have disappeared it's good to see some like Cheeky69 still about, even if I'm now too old for her!!

"I'm not a long time member, nor, I expect anybody's favourite forumite, but I have stepped back because of some peoples aggressive posting. I find the worst of it comes from a small group of women. This is not misogyny on my part, as there are some unpleasant males too, but I've seen this group of PHYSICALLY attractive women piling on to people on threads, and it's ugly.

I'm afraid that no matter how hot they look, this behaviour is a massive turn off. I imagine they get away with it because some men can't see past their looks, but I find it unpleasant viewing, and it makes me uncomfortable.

I have questioned whether I should stay here because of it.

I doubt I would be a cause for concern, if I went MIA, but I had to say this, in case I do feel compelled to leave in the future.

Ive been here 15 years and have been a very active forumite over those years.

I started taking little breaks then the last one was for about 9 months. Ive been back a couple of weeks and hardly recognize anyone. Ive posted very little as its really difficult to find something to post on as most of the threads are just shit

I go on and off Fab, you might have noticed I'm currently in an 'on' phase since I have been chatty AF (sorry all!) !

In all the times I've been here though, I don't think I've ever had a fight with anyone. I do see people be assholes, but tend to just roll my eyes and try seek out the more fun folk who aren't looking for a rise.

There are lots missing and most of their names escape me. I know them by stripy socks or lovely boobs or rippling chest There are a few in here I would faint if they left, it wouldnt be the same at all but luckily they seem fairly steady so I should be ok. Phew.

To be honest I'm not invested enough here in the lounge to notice if someone has left or isn't posting as often but across the forums as a whole there is actually no-one that I miss.

There are a few that I'm more than happy have left or had the forum option taken from them and I know from chatting to a few people through the lounge that not all is as it appears in here either and some lovely forumites are anything but in external chat groups.

As said above people come and go, and some cannot come back.

In terms of contributions, or lack of, to threads, I think a lot of it has to do with our lives getting back to some sense of normality after the last two years.

In the first lockdown there was a whole lot of positive support and fun. This has changed.

I do think some of us are just jaded with things that you look and just don't bother.

I was going to do a voice thread the other day for Valentine's where we could record limericks etc but didn't feel inclined in the end.

Anyway I am rambling. Another reason I have stopped posting much.
