"Isn’t it a little silly to force a pronoun on someone? I’m a male, I’d like to be addressed as Sir in a teaching position Isn’t this exactly what we are meant to be fighting against? Letting people identify how they want was the goal, and somehow we’ve come to a place where we want to force how people identify? " Exactly.

"They want them to be called Teacher followed by their surname. If the teacher's surname was Teacher then he/she would be called Teacher Teacher .. The Pink Floyd lyrics was ahead of it's time. Another Brick in the Wall.. Great Track" Chinese students call us Teacher, to begin with. They acclimatise to using our actual names after a while. I don't like being called Teacher. It makes me feel anonymous.

I’m all for gender neutral pronouns, but as you say, it should be the choice of the person you are addressing.

"I always wonder why they sing "we don't need no education" when obviously they need to improve their grammar" It's a criticism of the education in terms of attempting to produce cookie cutter kids by only nurturing certain skills rather than acknowledging that we all have different strengths and focusing on building upon the strengths of each individual. In the grand scheme of things, does a musician really need perfect grammar?

"We're just called by our names. It works well. Some students like to use Miss, Mrs or Mr with your name, e.g. Mrs N, but I prefer they just use my name." Totally understand that for further education but I think in schools it is very important to make the boundaries exceptionally clear.

I'm getting used to companies calling me by my first name but I still don't like it. They are NOT my friends. I prefer a degree of formality. First names seeped in company USA wise and is here to stay. It's a good way of making you relax so that you can be taken advantage of and told shit and sold shit and lies in a very friendly way..... believe me - I am fully aware of the psychology behind it.

"Been dating a deputy head for a few years now, it’s completely changed how I view teachers. The crap that she had to put up with from hopeless / feckless parents is staggering. These parents are unable to exercise any control over their children so often the only time these kids encounter any form of control or even have the word ‘no’ uttered to them is in school. Vital there is no relaxing of titles in my humble opinion." I agree, there is no respect or manners

"Surely the whole point of this gender inclusiveness is that we can all choose for ourselves how we want to identify. Males and Females who are comfortable in their existing identity do not need a gender neutral label. Those who want to identify in a different way are able to do so too, whether they choose male/female or something else. In my opinion, removal of gender identity is just as wrong as enforcing those genders assigned at birth. Cal" ![]() ![]() ![]()

"Instead of focusing on that, maybe they should focus on the 1950s outdated education system and teach in a way that every child flourish instead of one type has to fit all. ![]() Unfortunately, they would need to fund the system better first. There would have to be much smaller class sizes and many more teachers to get anywhere close to this.
