Breathe in and hold your breathe until you can’t anymore. Then figure out what the longest time is you can comfortably hold your breath for without any panic response whatsoever. Use that breathing pattern and focus on keeping it going at that interval. Eventually you’ll slip off the interval as you fall asleep.
