Are these a thing?

I’ve just lost the back off my earring. Happens every so often and its very annoying.

A pack of earring backs costs more than new stud earrings?!

It is very annoying, I've never had any with screw on backs but I do have some that hold the backs better than others.

I use the rubber/silicone backs on mine. I hate the butterfly type backs as they come loose eventually. And the bullet ones can be very hit and miss.

You can get packs of them cheap on ebay.

I make earrings so give me a shout if you want a link to the kind of ones im talking about.

I wear a lot of lever back ones. No fiddly butterflies to lose.

But I did recently buy a pack of butterflies, if you need some op, I'd be happy to send you a few.

I have a few pairs with screw backs, they tend to be large stones though. It's unusual to get diamond studs of more than 1ct without a screw back.

If your earrings currently have standard butterflies you'd need to have the post replaced to fit a screw back which might make the posts weak.

You could try some security backs like Lox, you can get them on Amazon or eBay and they will fit a standard stud earring.

Don’t know if could be modified to work

But I do know you can by clips that turn normal earrings to clip on earrings

The way the normal earrings go it to them is slot in and screw the clamp down on to them at the back

With rubber grommet in the middle whare your ear should be on the normal earrings

Maybe able to cut the clip on part away just leaving the screw back and replaceing the rubber grommet with your ear not to shour though just thinking out loud

You can get stronger plastic bags for gold /silver stud earrings Available at your local Jewellers

Always screw back are normally only on diamond set or high end stub earrings

But your local jewellery can replace post and butterflies back for screw back fittings but will cost

I use labret studs which have a flat back and a ball that screws on the front. Slightly thicker than regular earrings but never causes me any pain or problems.

They only come in studs though
