Has anyone noticed, that the only new TV programmes which come onto our telly boxes are police crime dramas?! There are so many on, that I get confused by what's happening week in week out, and getting characters mixed up. I for one would love to watch a great comedy series, but recent ones made have been really shit in comparison to older shows.

My question is, if a TV programme could be made today, and would retain the comedy value of yesteryear, what would it be?

For me it'd be Only Fools and Hoses. Absolute classic comedy.

Stockport

I like the sound of "Only Fools and Hoses". A comedy set in a fire station?

Hmmmmm i think those crusty comedys like only fools and horses are only laughed at be a certain generation. New comedies such as 'gavin and stacey' have been hugely popular but due to failing figures have finished.

many shows run in 'popularity circles so 'The sweeny' was popular the cancelled, 'the bill' hugely popular 90s/early 2000s failed due to failing viewing figures, crime dramas are popular again so 'the bill' would succeed now untill the fad wears off.

Not sure about a certain generation laughing at old comedies. My 13 year old son was laughing like a drain watching Some Mothers Do 'Av Em a few weeks ago. Agreed about The Bill and The Sweeney being popular now, but that's exactly my point.

Not far

I’ve given up on terrestrial TV. There’s only so many years of Ant & Dec I can put up with, and BBC Saturday night telly is woeful. Amazon Prime and Netflix is about all I watch, other than the Great Pottery Throwdown.

Agreed about Ant and Dec, can't stand them. Was relieved to see their newest gameshow finishing, but they're back on next week with their Takeaway. Saturday night TV is just quizzes, gameshows or reality shows..hate them all. I do enjoy some Netflix shows. Ozark being my latest viewing.

dads army. I love the episode The deadly attachment.where walker gets the german prisoners fish and chips and asks who wants salt and vinegar? and the german leader wants plaice and no soggy chips.thats also the same episode where captain mainwaring says something like 'Dont tell him pike' when the german leader asks hes name. Phillip madoc was so funny in that episode.

Classic comedy, they certainly don't make them like it anymore. My father was a massive Dads Army fan, I've only seen a few episodes...might give them a whirl.

Good choice with the Great Pottery Throwdown!
