What things do you notice?

Her ladyship thinks I'm unobservant because I dont notice that her 3 grey hairs have lost their 4mm of grey root and now match the colour of all the rest.

I find it difficult to understand how she can happily watch a film and not notice that the seasons change from one scene to the next, people walk into a party in spring sunshine and come out to trees stripped bare by winter etc.

What details do you people regularly miss or pick up on that others around you find strange?

Keeping it within the context of fab I'm always amazed at the huge red flags attached to some profiles and forum threads that others don't seem to notice or the warning klaxxons that accompany them.

I rarely notice when people get hair cuts or subtle changes to makeup. I tend to notice peoples behaviour more, but I think that's more to do with remnant paranoia from my teenage years.

Good post. I actually picked up vibes that sis in law was not her usual self the other day. Brother told me later, on the quiet, her best friend had called earlier and was very unwell.

Both of us cotton on to people who are lying waaay before a lot of others.

Mr tends to notice things about cars that I would never clock in a thousand years.

I’m good at spotting physical details In things that are important to me.

Autistic focus I think is the cause. I can tell what size spanner you need for a particular nut and bolt, and can generally distinguish between common thread forms visually. I recognise parts and assemblies, even on machinery I’ve not worked on in decades.

I’m hopeless at reading non-verbal cues in interactions though.

All detail or just detail about people? I'm useless at that too but then other things stand out like a sore thumb.

Like a lot of people, I pick up on things I have done that aren’t as they should be.

Once I’ve spotted it I can’t see anything else.

Someone else looks at it and can’t see the problem.

You come across as a person who thinks things through, acepts other people see things differently, look at all sides of a discussion etc. Lying tends to be a sign of the opposite personality traits so perhaps this is why it stands out to you? Lies tend to be one dimensional and show up when viewed from a different angle if that makes sense?

My son is the same - I love to ask what he spots first in a room because he will zoom in on the fine detail automatically.

most fundamental aspects

I don’t tend to pick up on haircuts or even hair colour changes in colleagues and friends. Maybe because I’m looking at their faces. I can read micro expressions.

The season changing in film and TV is one I can’t not notice. I’m always spotting historical anachronisms too. Here’s a few to show just how picky I am.

LED lights on the trucks in Narcos (first seasons set in the 80s)

Plastic blow moulded roadworks barriers when during when it was meant to be would have been plastic planks or wood.

Heras security fencing before it was invented.

Round one piece ring pulls on drinks cans when they were still using detachable ones.

Car registrations only released after the film was set.

Oh and that last one reminds me of the infuriating habit, of US stuff set in the UK, using continental Europe sirens for emergency vehicles.
