Different Message platforms

Why does everyone use so many different messaging apps and some use some but not others. Aren't they all the same?!

I had kik but deleted it after a couple of weeks, I was sick of getting the same message from different random people

Thankyou for your detailed feedback..are you able to expand this answer at all? As in I was of the understanding they all send messages/pictures/videos without the need for your mobile number.

Some you need a mobile number for some you don’t, some you can send vids on some you can’t, some are slow as fck & more like sending emails than live chat.

Those are the main reasons I’d guess. It’s like using Telegram instead of Kik. If you only want to chat kik was fine imo.

All of them? WhatsApp needs your mobile number for starters
