Seems a bit strange on her but any introverts here?

Used to be a lot more social for a few years but now I'm very anti social once again and really enjoy it now, before I used to think it was a problem and not having many friends growing up but now I'm best when I'm on my own

I am. I love not having to meet up with friends, not being invited to hen do's or parties etc. I've saved loads of money to do things that I want to do, whilst also protecting my MH at the same time. Apart from 2 meets off here. I don't think I've met up with anyone outside of the immediate family in a few years. It's amazing

Yes very much so! That's the thing about society, it's so extroverted that people try to convince you your abnormal if you aren't the loudest or chattiest person in the room. I have days where I'm completely content not seeing anyone and with my own company. We are all different and that's okay

Yeah I don't think I can deal with a social event now with too many people, sooner have a camp out in the woods on my own.

I have autism too so it all works together and only thing I get nervous about is going to a supermarket

This exactly, I used to hate being dragged along somewhere when I was a kid and all I wanted to do was stay home and read or play on my computer

I can relate to being introvert as I feel very 50/50, I swing from being introvert to yearning for lively company.Saying that the type of company is a key factor are there are so many negative folk it makes you want to avoid them at times, however, and this might sound cliche, I'm finding people on her I chat to and meet ring me out of introverted self, it's real life that's the problem LOL.

Best place to be an introvert is on the forums. Not a single person to look at you and you can shout as loud as you like and do handstands in your pants. Not a single look your way. Woohoo!

I’m very much an introvert. I like my own company most of the time. I do occasionally like being sociable but I need time to recover afterwards with some quiet time and lots of sleep!

People can be exhausting.

Keep in mind introvert is not exclusively related to those who don't like to socialise.

It is also (and more so) about those who recharge while being solo and drain while around others vs those who gain energy from being around people.

You can be social as any "extrovert" but lose energy faster while in the company of people, while being a shy extrovert but your energy is not drained by them.

Complete introvert. Takes me a while to warm up to people. Massive social anxiety. Don't really like socialising with more than 2 others at a time. I find it exhausting.

This describes me perfectly. I feel like I only have a certain amount of social hours in me per day, once it's exceeded I just don't have the energy for people.

I suppose Fab is like anywhere, the extroverts shout the loudest so they're noticed.

Yes, hate large groups - hence why I tend to avoid clubs, which I'll admit tends to make things harder

One of the reasons I no longer meet is because I just can’t be doing with putting myself through the first meet anymore.

I am not a total recluse, but I could quiet happily exist as a hermit, I find large groups of people hard work.

Do others find that they whilst you can be good freinds with everyone present that as group size increases you get gradually edged out and essentially ignored/exclided or is that just me?

Yes, one to one interactions are okay. Even small groups, but large gatherings where you don't know people. I think it's fear of the unexpected, drying up in conversation.

"Best place to be an introvert is on the forums. Not a single person to look at you and you can shout as loud as you like and do handstands in your pants. Not a single look your way. Woohoo! "

This is false advertising.

I can't do handstands in my pants

I think what's been said previously is right. There are many, many introverts on the forums and we thrive here. Because we get the social interaction that we need without any of that horrific social interaction that is so terrifying and draining.

It takes a lot of psyching up for me to manage to be in a social situation and even more to recharge afterwards.

I don't like the out. That's where they keep the people. I'd rather stay mostly in and babble shite at you lot.

I am. People often don't believe me but I think people think it means you're quiet and shy all the time. Of course there are some who are but we're not all like that. I find too much socialising to be draining and I have a need for a certain amount of time on my own. I enjoy my own company and I prefer to work independently. I enjoy socialising but it is hard work for me and I do tend to enjoy smaller groups of close friends or one on one time over big groups/parties.

Yeah same here, only really engage with people for needs, shopping, sexual activity etc.

Personally I'd be happy stranded on a desert island with a monthly supply drop of food, meds etc and be content

Yes I'm sure some people think I'm an extrovert. I do value some social contact, but it's great to just be on my own to recharge

I am definitely an ambivet, I love socialising and being around people but other days I will just disappear down to coast to be on my own, miles away from any one else.

It just being able to have that time to recharge and carry on, research "spoon theory" it's quite interesting
