I mean, who else is a big fan of good ole bromance?

The basis:

What’s a Bromance … you might ask (according to UD)?!

Bromance is the combination of two words, "brother" and "romance". It describes the unique male bonding found between "brothers from another mother". This is between heterosexual males and no matter what is never seen as a gay relationship, though it may be joked about.

I think it’s super adorable seeing two or more guys have a little bromance and be comfortable with that.

Even Jack G is freaking adorable when he has his little bromances with some of his team mates

Got a full on bromance with my best mate. Been there for each other for many years now. He gave me a home when my marriage ended and I've suported him through some really tough times too.

We climb together and have literally saved each others lives numerous times.

I mean copying and pastying here:

The term “bromance” has been used to define a non-sexual relationship between two or more men that are considered deeper than an average friendship. For females, the equivalent would be a womance or sisterhood (The phrase, she’s like a sister to me is often used to describe an extra close friendship between women.)

Even though the word bromance is a mix of “bro” and “mance”, a bromance is not a romantic relationship. What makes a bromance different from a typical friendship between men is the high level of emotional intimacy.

I guess it’s being completely and utterly comfortable with your male best friend, when you know , you know I guess.

It mentions sisterhood for the female version and I have a few besties, but one in particular, she’s my literal twin flame and we just share everything and we are comfortable with each other. Have sleep overs in the same bed etc and we have basically the same brain

Sadly, I don’t have a buddy I can attribute to a bromance.

I think the closest I get is the relationship I have with my fitness coach, who I’ve known for about 10 years. We have silly pet names for each other when we cross paths at the gym, or if we’re out for lunch.

I've always found it weird that close male friendships need a separate name. I've had friendships with other women where we were inseparable. I still say about one of my university housemates that I was platonically in love with her as she is one of my favourite people ever. People have never called it anything other than being friends though.

My 21 year old son has a couple of friends that he has been friends with since they where kids and it’s so sweet when they are on the phone and finishing there call to each other they always say love you it’s so heart warming they all have long term girlfriend and my son explains it as they all do love each other like you would love a member of your family and would trust each other with there lives and are all not emberased to show there feelings which is lovely.

That is so sweet, it’s nice to see that guys nowadays can show affection between each other without the fear of being called gay (nothing wrong with that absolutely, but there was always the idea of. Can’t behave certain ways between men)

Some of my mates I've known since infants school. Still speak now and again. One I've been very close to and their family took me on childhood holidays a few times. Not met up for a while but hope to in the summer. He is like a brother.

Yes it's weird and no men don't "need" a name for it. There's no name for the equivalent female relationship because it is considered normal that a woman will be emotionally open with her friends. For some reason men are expected not to have emotions (beside anger) and if they do, certainly not to show them. It's considered slightly odd if a man does these things, some find it cute, some endearing, others gay. The fact that we notice it, question it, comment on it, says quite a bit about us as people.

My dad and his neighbour. They have been friends for many years. They have a lovely bond between them which is just adorable. They get called Jack and Victor and with them recently widowed it's nice that they have each other

My dad and his best mate of about 40 years. Pub every Friday for most of them. The friend was heartbroken when Dad died. I now see him regularly cos we go to rugby together - in the spirit of keeping Dad’s memory alive.

I have very long friendships.

My best mates are for 49, 40 and 30 yrs.

They have all been married...at least once and have at some point put me up when I was between places.

I love them deeply, have 3 separate families and a total.of 9 kids that call me uncle.

I would give them everything and have them in my will.

It is hardly surprising I never got married myself. I live that side of life vicariously...the best way.

This does actually exist between straight and gay men too, on genuinely platonic levels. I have some straight males I get on with fantastically, we have banter and I view them genuinely platonically. I know of plenty of other examples of this. Not everything is about sex with people
