How much do you spend on clothes per month?

From the land of haribos.

I dont really buy so many clothes as I already have a big collection, so instead it would be a yearly budget, lets say about £200 or so

Oh god, well some months is £0 but other months can be a lot!

Id say £1500-2000 yearly (if you don’t count accessories. Cos sometimes I just buy jewellery and those are expensive)

Not a lot.

Might get a good coat every three years. Jeans as an when I need them (got 3 pairs on rotation).

New pair of trainers every year (self imposed £40 limit) then the old pair become gym trainers and the old gym trainers become lawn mowing/gardening trainers. The odd t-shirt when one gets too small or worn.

£200 a year tops.....infact if I budgeted £200 a year, I'd be in credit.

Because of my weight loss journey, and subsequent throwing away of EVERYTHING, I’ve refused to buy any clothes at all until this coming summer. So all I’ve purchased is socks and smalls.

I’m actively dreading the point where I have to go out and buy actual clothing. I have no idea what ‘look’ is going to suit me and my new body shape. I’ve been ‘overly rotund’ for so long. I don’t know anything other than black.

I was going to say all I bought this past year for myself was about £30 on two pairs of jogging bottoms. Then I remembered the basque, thong and stockings. Can we count those as sex toys rather than clothes?

I buy clothes when needed as I hate clothes shopping. I'm actually off shopping this morning as I have vouchers going out of date. But I'll probably end up buying food from M&S as I don't really like their clothes.

The kids stuff is second hand from older cousins, charity shops and underwear from Primark. I don't spend a lot. Hell, I even get their shoes from eBay. So, no budget, so I don't spend a lot

Only buy new clothes when the ones I'm comfortable in are starting to look a bit worn out or if I need something for a special function. Maybe £100 a year.

Other than that, clothes are overated and better left on the floor

Never understood the need for a wardrobe full of clothes that are only worn once or still have the labels attached.

I get that most people will justify spending a little extra on something that makes them feel good when they wear it but does that only happen once and they couldn't possibly wear it a second time?

I don't spend that much on clothes in the last year maybe £150 in total. I don't need or want expensive clothes and when I'm not in work I'm usually just pottering about at home with the dogs and horses. I'm pretty good at finding bargains and I've no issue with shopping in second hand stores for clothes either.

And i spent £6 on two dresses from a charity shop

Hmm then i also just splurged £16 on some pjs + undies from primark - two bras + a thong

Wow that's £80 already for Feb

Totally!! And hair, omg, freaking hair.

U guys have it cheaper

Tho I must say, generally speaking, the guys I know tend to spend a fair amount on good quality clothes rather than buying tons, but bad quality. (Example.. girls, shopping at primark just to come back with 100 different things)

Hardly need to spend anything on clothes. One of my closest friends works in a charity shop. It astounds me what people donate that still have the labels on them. My size, and styles that she likes to see me in gets put to one side for me. At £2 or so an item, I can look like man about town at a knock down price, and the charity gets an instant sale. Everyone is a winner. They also get them back for weighing in after I'm done with them, so the charity gets a double whammy. Not what you know, but who you know that counts.

Myself (Mr) I’m very sporadic, I won’t buy a single thing for months but then will spend 1000-2000 online in one go although I’ll probably send 30-50% back.

Mrs, that’s another story. I would say parcels from online clothes shopping arrive almost every day. She probably spends 1000-2000 a month not including accessories such as handbags and shoes

About £100 a month, depends on if we’re including footwear in this as I have a massive trainer collection and usually buy a new pair every couple of months so that bump up the spend - also splurge on lingerie some months too xx

I spend very little on clothes. Certainly nothing regular. Aldi having a special buy on work clothes can trigger a £100 splurge, but “proper” clothes tend to be expensive and well made items bought with hope they’ll last. Some of my shirts are 20+ years old.

I stopped random shopping many years ago because I finally understood why I was doing it and apply the same rule to everything I buy.

First, I measure the cost in the time it takes me to earn it and then I will buy it if its necessary, makes my life easier and gives me joy.

Like food, I eat what's available from the yellow stickered or bargains in my fridge.

I will buy good quality, more expensive stuff if I know I'm going to keep, wear or use it for many, many years.

The amount of gorgeous, good quality clothes I've got from a charity shop is unreal and I've strutted my stuff around clubs in charity shop clothes and heels many times.

My wardrobe is amazing, filled with beautiful clothes I love to wear, expensive coats, quirky pieces and wonderful, unusual shoes I look after and have worn for years.

I think finding your style and fit is the key.

Hmm, clothes and shoes are a big expense for me. I probably spend several hundreds each year on running stuff alone - mostly shoes. My road shoes have over 1000k from the last 10 months on them and need replacing soon, recently replaced my trail shoes (similar mileage though over a longer time) and bought another more cushioned pair in a bigger size for longer ultras. This will add up to £350 or so in the last 6 months ...

Outdoor clothing is expensive if you want quality, it is ridiculously over priced but you do get what you pay for. I may wince but will still spend £100 plus on single items.

I'm about to send my winter climbing sallopettes off to be repaired again which will likely cost as much as a new pair of jeans but it's still a lot cheaper than replacing and better for the environment.

For every day wear, I've just bought a new pair of jeans, my last pair was 5 years ago. Her ladyship occasionally comes home with new boxers/socks or a top she wants to see me in. Between these and race memorabilia tops I have plenty to wear.

Mr

Same. I spend too much sometimes but then have months where I spend zero. I have a single rail and no other bedroom furniture so when it’s full I have to get rid of things before I can buy more. I think over Dec / Jan I spent over £2000 , two suits, two watches, three pairs of jeans, trainers, two jumpers, 2 shirts, several underwear, merino wool socks (to save on gas!) ,. I’m not one for buying clothes but I try to buy items that will wash well & be worn a lot. My biggest expense is a bra - £94. Well worth every penny, improves my posture, reduced by back ache, copes with being constantly washed & worn & lasted for 2 years before a wire snapped.
