Yes I am a fella.

Just looking on for information on the topic.

My wife is in this stage of her life.

The sweats, waking up in the night frequently, mood swings and sexual desire has disappeared.

We do have sex now and again but I can just tell its not the same. As though its "duty" which is not good for either of us. She no longer suddenly says " Ooh I feel randy"

She now finally has a hormone gel in a ridiculously small bottle and to get that you've got to go through the ridiculous process of getting past the Gestapo guard of a receptionist to see a Doctor.

Can I ask some ladies on here on some tips and advise?

Thanks

Google 'menopause Davina McCall'. That's a really good programme that may help.

La la land

Look at Dr Louise Newson, she's transformed how I view menopause.

"Look at Dr Louise Newson, she's transformed how I view menopause. "

She recently shared a sample letter to use when contacting GPS if you're experiencing issues getting meds & support. Might be worth a look OP

North East Scotland, mostly

Focus on how your wife is feeling, rather than searching for ways of how to "fix" things. I think we often jump to "how can I make this better?" rather than "how can we navigate through this time?" Menopause can be a scary time for some. Reassurance, compassion and just listening to her can make a big difference.

Honestly the menopause sucks, be understanding and listen to your wife.. She's having the hot sweat, brain fog, mood swings not you!

Has she spoken to the GP about HRT?

I suddenly stopped sleeping in July last year, had anxiety and brain fog. Those are my only symptoms and have just started HRT

Menopause is such a horrible thing. It's like sometimes I just don't feel like myself at all. Which is a pretty scary thing to have to deal with.

Be patient and loving. Listen. Sometimes there simply isn't a solution and you have to ride with the storm.

Remember though she is the same person you fell in love with she's just been temporarily taken over!!

Hi Patch

You've had the best advice so far - research and look at how to navigate it together.

I think it's such an individual experience for every woman. For example, I don't get any night sweats at all, I'm just permanently too hot. I do however have the brain fog. Haven't lost my sex drive either but that's another story

It's best to get some proper help for the elements that are relevant to her.

Good luck in getting some support.

I’m sure you heard it all before but :..and Perhaps I’m the only one thinking that your wife coming across your single male profile on Fab might be a stumbling block but … it seems to me that your only concern is that you’re not getting “quality” sex … Never mind the turmoil she’s going through ….

There is an app called Balance and an associated website created by Dr Louise Newson. Lots of really useful information written in a really simple format. Lots of fact sheets and information to print off and help get the support. As said Google her and Balance Menopause.

I think the fact your asking for help here to navigate her journey which to be fair involves you as your part of that couple is pretty good.

The advice given has been pretty awesome and I myself as a menopausal woman trying to explain it to my old man have passed those websites ect on for him to have a look.

It’s horrific for a woman going through it but I understand a guy on the outside looking in thinking as you do. Help her to help yourselves darling put her first for a little bit

I’ve just downloaded the Balance app. It looks great and I’ve already filled in my details and seen some helpful tips. Thanks to all that have suggested it x

Women really go through it in their lifetimes what with periods, pregnancy, childbirth, menopause and other gynaecological problems

Thank you.

Despite others misgivings from their replies I'm thinking about her and of course us as a couple.

I thought here would be a good place to ask. I've looked on websites. Usual advice by Doctors etc etc but I thought here would be far better.

I have to say the good ladies mood swings are really that bad. But it's the hot flushes at night that gets her which in turn ruins her sleep can cause tiredness so mood can come from that.
