Don’t let it bother you and certainly don’t change who you are to please random people on the internet. If they like you for who you are great. If they don’t then does it really matter?

We've blocked the odd person before, without actually having chatted to them. It's usually down to something we really do not like that we've observed, Such as a bitchy status or forum update generalising people for not replying or wanting to fuck after the first message etc. Also the odd person that's far too judgemental for us to ever want to be around them, that's a pet hate. People that love to have huge lists of must haves in a person or must not haves. Any red flag really, so shitty attitudes, arrogant people, drug users etc.

Prospective meets need to be people we want to spend time with, we trust and were compatible with in the ways that matter. Kind, patient, respectful people.

If someone is clearly not compatible, surely blocking them is a sound decision. Saves all that wasted time communicating, to then find out later that it wasn't to be.

The thing is, all of us do this in 'real' life all the time. We don't engage with random people based on the scantest of evidence that we are not likely to want to; something they might've said, the way they dress, the party they vote for.....it really is no different here. It might just have been something you've posted in a thread.

Something like being a Tory voter will earn 99% of your blocks, most likely.

I’ve blocked people on the forums before without any messages, it’s rare but I’ve done it. It would, for me, be because of something I completely disagree that was said in the forum or the way they’ve come across. I wouldn’t want to risk meeting them with such thoughts so I filter with a block.

I don't lose any sleep over why people block me.

The majority on my list are there because we have nothing in common and I don't want to see them in my updates.

The rest are there because of something forum related or their not so subtle stalking including storytelling and info sharing.

On the odd occasion I may look at a user because of a comment and find I'm blocked....that could be a couple off reasons. I don't worry about it...should they dislike me, that's cool. You can't get on with all the people all the time, and nor would I want to.

On rare occasions, I have disliked someone because of an attitude or comment and blocked them.

I would like to clarify that someone blocking you doesn't mean the person hates you.

I have a really long block list with people I have never messaged. The reason is I have a saved search with age and interests settings that I would prefer to meet. I like to have the results trim. If I find a profile in the list who are not attractive to me or I know wouldn't find me attractive (they mention a body type or race they prefer which is not mine), I block them just so that they don't turn up in search results again.

I know it might look a bit rude. But it's because fab doesn't have a hide profile option. The only option is to block.

I block people without speaking to them first. Only because I’ve looked at their profile and have seen I’m not in their age range or their type. Makes the list smaller when I’m doing a search… nothing more frustrating than when I see a woman that’s close to me but we’re not a match. Shame we can’t have more filters to pinpoint exactly the type of people we’re looking for. But that’s another story…

I am slim, 6 feet tall, Asian and submissive. So any profile that says I want muscular guys or 6'2 height or Black/white men only or dominant guys only is a no-go for me. I can't filter with what other's are looking for.

A simple option would be to let us "hide profile" instead of blocking profile. That way, the profile won't show up in searches. But at the same time, that person can message me if they want for some reason.

I have recently noticed but don’t normally check to be honest. They have their reasons and as long as I haven’t offended them, that’s fine by me. I have blocked people from the forums because of nasty posts or threads. There are some people I have blocked for being creepy or pestering outside of the forums, that just happen to post in them. Seen it once or twice, happened recently although I had messaged them in this instance. Remembered them from when we chatted years ago, clearly they did not want to catch up though as I found myself blocked. Just the way it goes unfortunately sometimes. I have also blocked a couple profile a few times before because they join up, post a load of pictures, delete them, post them again 2 days later, delete whole profile and join up again. It was so tedious seeing it on the updates I just had to keep blocking the profile when they rejoined.

I know I’ll never be everyones cup of tea, so I understand people will block me even if I never say a word to them. It’s confusing not knowing why, but they always have their reasons and those reasons need to be respected

"I've never understood why someone who you know you'd never message anyway and who can't message you, due to the message filters, would block you "

From my own personal experience I've had to block someone who used to name me in their status updates with suggestions for what I should wear or have in my next pic and I no longer wanted them looking at my profile.

I've also blocked someone who lives at the opposite end of the country and we have absolutely nothing in common. Five months later when she realised she couldn't see my profile any more she started to follow me around the forums making snide comments and telling everyone how close we used to be and how I was so nasty for denying our long standing friendship. We had exchanged 4 messages in total.

Yeah same. I find it odd when people block over forum comments as it doesn't stop you from seeing what they post. Especially when you live really far apart and are both outside of what each other is looking for as it's not even necessary for filtering. I guess the only reason I can think of is as a quick reminder that you don't like them or not to engage with them but that would only work if you looked at people's profiles every time you replied to any forum comment.

Because I don’t want them looking at my profile, my veris, my photos or anything else on there. That’s why I’ve done it. There’s one couple and two male profiles which I’ve blocked because of their vile posts even if they aren’t related to my body type, skin colour or sexual orientation. That means I may fit their criteria so a block prevents them attempting to contact me. One of the guys uses stuff from people’s profiles to have a go at them in threads. Or he he was doing, I haven’t notice him post for a while.

I do also use the personal notes for other people rather than block.

"

If someone is using information from someone's profile to be malicious then I totally get blocking. I'm talking more about situations like two straight men from opposite ends of the country who block each other for no reason other than that they disagreed on a forum post. Of course they can use the block function however they like, I just don't see what they achieve in situations like that.

"I've never understood why someone who you know you'd never message anyway and who can't message you, due to the message filters, would block you

Once again, I have some straight men blocked mainly because if I challenged something obnoxious or misogynistic they said in the forums they often commented on my profile and tried to find ammunition there.

In one case a particularly sleazy individual who likes to tag himself with others was quoting my profile text and trying to give the impression we were friends.

There is also the situation where this site has glitches. I've seen people that have apparently blocked me, but they say they haven't.

I covered that in the first line of my comment though.

Somewhere in Co. Down

I've found some who blocked me it doesn't bother me I just counter block .I block those who I have polar opposite views on things especially when they are rude and obnoxious on here. I also block some through association with others who are shit stirrers behind the scenes I can't be bothered with childish bickering and back stabbing on here. More often tho I use notes to remind me.

We have blocked if we have corresponded, then heard nothing back, if they have likes that activate our triggers (scat, pain etc), if they're rude, etc. Also block those who go in about politics of any side.

I have got to nose at guys profiles before and found I'm blocked. Can't say it bothers me though.

Yes, I just presume it’s something I’ve said on the forums or as a couple we’re simply not their type.

I’ve done the same a few times myself.

"I've never understood why someone who you know you'd never message anyway and who can't message you, due to the message filters, would block you

"

Wow! That's crazy behaviour

I can never quite work out the logic of blocking people who are that far away that there is more chance of seeing seagull shit upside down, than ever there is of ever seeing the whites of that person's eyes. Blocking people locally I get, for various reasons, but does the person blocking from a distance, in their wildest imagination think that someone, even if their traveling costs can be laid off against business expenses, is likely to have an uncontrollable urge to drive hundreds of miles to possibly discover that they could meet someone who they would sooner fancy spending a night of toothache with, rather than in each others company. Personally, over the years I've found ignoring someone to be far more effective because, that way they way the profile also remains clearly visible to undesirables who can look from now until doomsday at something they will never have. Over the years, a few close friends of mine on here have adopted the same strategy, and it works very well.

Sometimes a comment on a forum makes you wonder what kind of person they are so look at their profile.

Then find they believe they’re the next Maquis de Sade so we block before we get a “Hi” message.

See my comment above. It has absolutely nothing to do with meeting or even chatting and everything to do with how some use other people's profile details for their own agenda. Blocking them removes that option.

Land of the Long White Cloud

I have been blocked and have also blocked people in chatrooms.

I can only assume I was blocked for the same reasons I choose to block others - taking offence at things they have said in the chat thread.

Perhaps they didn't like my cam. Either way it doesn't really bother me. Am not to everyone's tastes and vice versa.
