I think she will make a brilliant queen consort.

Both Charles and Camilla have their flaws but they have dedicated their lives to service of this country and its people.

I look at the Queen and just see a wee old lady, a Granny who has dedicated her life to a cause that she didn't ask for, she was born into. Feel sorry for her and I'm not remotely a fan of the Royal Family.

Camilla will always be looked upon as the other woman and compared to Diana she'll always fall short in the public eye. Although I think she's quite ballsy and has some personality which I quite like.

No wife of Charles' would ever be Queen. Only ever Queen Consort because Charles is the King. Contrary to what fairytale books etc show, we never have a King and Queen at the same time (nor Queen and King). Camilla was apparently going to be styled "Princess Consort" at the point she married Charles. Prince Philip was also Consort. The title "King Consort" doesn't exist.

This

Because Charles and Camilla were divorcees the Queen has the right to intervene in Camillas title when Charles becomes king. It was rumoured she would become Princess Consort

Actually from a quick Google it doesn't matter That she was a divorcee she would automatically be entitled to be called Queen consort, I think at the time it was more to do with people wouldn't have tolerated her as Queen Camilla but I think a lot of attitudes have changed.

I've just read that now - when the BBC Breaking News banner popped up before, it said 'Queen wishes for Camilla to be known as Queen'

Now, however, it says Queen Consort

Either way, I think it looks like The Queen may be more progressive than we perhaps gave her credit for and recognises that the modernisation of the monarchy is integral to its long term survival

At 96 I think she is a maz ing.

I think we've known that for a while because she changed the Constitution when Kate was pregnant. If Their first born was a girl she would have been Queen regardless if they went on to have a boy, Charlotte is above Louis in the line of succession.

For the record (not that her religion matters)

She married her first husband (Andrew Parker Bowles) in a Catholic ceremony, because he is Catholic.

Any debate about Camilla always reminds me of the time I took a mini bus tour of Gibraltar. The driver was brilliant, when we stopped to look at the rock apes he said that, we've one called Elizabeth, one called Philip, one called William, another one called Kate, one called Diana, and even one called Sarah. He said that he was once asked by a tourist if they had one called Camilla. The answer he gave them was, "No we haven't got one called Camilla because, we couldn't find one that ugly." True story!!!

Camilla will automatically be titled HM The Queen the moment her husband becomes HM The King.

The husband of a Queen doesn’t take the title of King as, in the British royal family, king always outranks Queen.

The Princess Consort was to be a styling she used. Similar to her using HRH Duchess of Cornwall instead of HRH The Princess of Wales, which she is.

One is only Queen (without the Consort) if one is the reigning female Monarch in their own right."

I was simply responding to the comparison made about Camilla and Philip.

It is automatic that she will be HM The Queen. Consort may feature in her constitutional role, but it won’t feature in her title.

"The current Queen has stated that she would like The Duchess of Cornwall to be titled as Queen when Charles ascends to the throne"

What a load of sherbet !!!!

I think it is disgusting that those two are even being considered! I think it should go straight to William and Kate!

Charles and his mistress being king and queen is just disgusting and wrong (massive middle finger ) sod that !

She's no longer his mistress, she's his wife and monarchs aren't considered for the job it's theirs if they're next in line unless they abdicate.

It's queen consort rather than queen.

It makes no difference to me. I find royalty very easy to ignore. I find them irrelevant and uninteresting. Luke

I was about to say I’d rather have will and Kate as our king and queen but you’ve changed my mind. I never considered it like this, to let them have their lives first before put on the throne.

So yep, because of what was said above, I now agree, right move

Camilla will always be looked upon as the other woman and compared to Diana she'll always fall short in the public eye. Although I think she's quite ballsy and has some personality which I quite like.

"The wife of the king is always called Queen..... I'm pretty sure anyway

Posh

I was actually curious about this so just googled and yes Any current wife of a king automatically becomes Queen consort.

Randomly..... I saw it on "The Crown" the other day....

Posh

Queen Consort isn't Queen though is it?

If it is, I assume the difference was because Camilla is a divorcee so would have simply retained her Duchess title?

Correct, that is why I said she can intervene, as she can if she feels it is within public interest

Absolutely. It's almost like she was giving her public blessing.

Yes it was and it was lovely to hear

Agreed. She is tackling something she knows would be difficult for Charles - who might have to bow to howls of Diana fans. The will of the Queen resolves it. She is definitely getting her house in order..."

I hope she makes it to her jubilee.

To answer the OP.

Indifferent.

I'd go further and ask why we even need a Royal Family in the 21st Century?

And don't start with the "they work incredibly hard for this country." I know lot's of people who work tremendously hard for the country and none of them are royals.

"Income from Tourism?" France seems to do okay and look what happened to their Royal family! (I don't advocate following that path, merely pointing out you can have a big tourism draw without royals in the mix.)

Camilla gets my vote I think she is a fine upstanding lady, the greatest tragedy of all is that they were prevented from getting together in the first, well that might not be quite true they probably got it together but you know what I mean. There is still a chance that the queen may out last . I suppose we have to have some sort of head of state so the monarchy looks a slightly better option than a Bojo/Trump type.

There are lots of rumours surrounding their romance among them that she wasn't as keen on PC as he was on her and it suited her very well that they couldn't marry.

I agree with every word you say but I will add that Diana's popularity is in most part down to her passing. She could be reviled had she lived ........ it's martyrdom.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I think the Queen has done what she can to say that she loves her son, values his happiness and has found Camilla to be the daughter-in-law she always needed.

It's not a popular view, but I also think Charles was faithful to the woman he loved: Camilla. He was uninterested, and casually cruel, to his first wife because his love was elsewhere.

Not necessarily…. Prince Philip didn’t automatically become King to his Queen as Camilla will not automatically become Queen "

That's because back then king was a higher title than queen so if he had become king to his queen he would've been in charge not her

They don't and every poll confirms that. People also seem to forget we would need to change our entire political system as well. Yes there is an argument for that but I think we get rid of the monarchy and we get rid of what it is to be British. The monarchy is modernising but I certainly don't want to be without it.

The problem with the monarchy as I see it is it tends to only change when forced to rather than anticipating where change is needed. Advisors tend to age with the monarch and are stuck in the past and progress is slow.
