What would you do if...........

......a guy (or girl for that matter) is really chatty on texts. You think there could be a connection etc. You meet for a social and there's definately a bit of chemistry. You plan to meet up for a 'date' but then the messages just kind of fizzle. He still wants to meet for on said date but he's sooooo much less communicative.

I'm inclined to just say forget it. Feels like now he's nearly bagged me, no effort being put in.

I don't want to make any rash decisions........

My preference is forgot it , they’ve gone with the initial chat to try and get into your knickers ,and because you’ve gone for a social first and haven’t dropped them instantly they’ve lost interest

Have you asked him about it? Maybe he's busy at the moment or maybe he's just trying to save some material for your actual face to face so that it's not just awkward silence

I know he has a very very busy job but he was able to message quite a bit before. I'm inclined to think it's a bit of both

I'm going to be direct and ask him about it

Sounds to me like he’s not really that in to you

Exuse the language here but he still bang

Probably best to avoid red flags are all ready in place for

Someone who’s going to bang and ghost

He’s got you in the bag so doesn’t have to give you as much attention. Or so he thinks…

We’ve had the same…if you can’t keep the level of intensity up in the lead up to a meet then it’s giving off the wrong vibes.

No matter how busy some one is, if you are thought of then it’s takes seconds to send a message.

Trust your gut.

Maybe he was neglecting work a bit to keep it up but there's only so long you can keep that up for. When me and my partner first met we were messaging very intensely and often staying up late messaging each other because we were both really excited by each other but there comes a point when you need to balance it with the rest of your life. Outside of those first few weeks we're actually both quite sporadic texters and would have found continuing that level of intensity draining. We're still very much in love however.

He probably doesn't work all of his waking hours.

Thanks everyone - just wanted to check my thinking. I've told him how I feel (politely) and cancelled the plans we had. Told him I have very high standards and to get in touch if he thinks he's worth it

That's a rather mixed message to send.

That’s confirmed my initial impression of you from the opening post.

I hope he doesn’t cry too much.

Somehow, I very much doubt it.

I think that's standard on here, it's natural to talk more on the lead up to a meet than afterwards. When your dating someone it's different but just hooking up it's not that deep.

I am a big fan of the natural slow fade, I make sure I note it on their profile on a private note though, so it's a reminder of what happened

My profile is very clear about the fact I'm NOT looking for hookups

Our plans were drinks on Sunday and then all going well, a play meet next week.

I've cancelled those plans but giving him the chance to step up.

What's the harm in that?
