Its madness isn't it? Think some of it is the welcome back meets they do maybe I've not had one yet but told of them from others and ty once I've got the antibiotics I b fine! That's gonna b a hurdle getting through to docs past the que then past the recptionist! They do let me have them as it's an ongoing thing with diabetes so that's good dont have to go in just pick it up from pharmacy x

Guess it's ok

Unless it becomes a habit

Does your workload get passed over or do you need to catch up on your return

I hate taking time off poorly. Not because it hurts the company, but because I know my colleagues will have to pick up my workload or things just won’t get done.

I was in a job I hated for 10 years and the last 3 years I took 2 months off sick each year.

They owed us all money due to increments that were due so this was my way of getting it. I got full pat while out sick.

Also only incidents of sickness were counted so taking a month off in say February and another month in August was only two incidents and would keep HR off your back but if you called in sick 4/5 individual days in the year then they would be onto you.

Glad I did it

The others do it but happy to get the overtime and yes would never make it a habit! Last time I was of sick would have been 9 years ago? Different job back then x

Don’t worry about the Return to work interview Candy, I do them in work and it’s just to make sure you’re well enough to return or if you need any support if you’re struggling with something health wise.

A lot of people have health issues and instead of giving us the nod they battle on until they can’t cope anymore, we just want to help before it gets to that point.

You’ll be fine

I always feel guilty if I call in sick, but if you’re ill, you’re ill. If you went in, you’ll either pass it on, or not do your job to the best of your ability.

Be gentle with yourself.

Oh no . You definitely couldn’t work with that, it’s miserable.

You have no need for guilt.

You shouldn't feel guilty. Like you I use to but then it got to the point where worrying about it doesn't change this situation. Focus on getting better and then go back in and just you need to do.

If an employer makes you feel guilty then personally that's not the sort of company I'd want to work for.

Get well soon

Feel better soon.

It's easy to feel guilty but employees are all replaceable. Whenever I take time off sick I look at it that way. If something happened to me they aren't going to bat an eyelid and just carry on as normal. So taking time off sick - although may cause work to back up for you, it's not going to do anyone harm.

I had 4 weeks off last year, I really should have stayed off for another 2 weeks minimum but I felt guilty too and returned. My reasoning was that I was only WFH on my laptop anyway. I was still on a heap of painkillers post op and I definitely didn't do my job as good as I would have done if I was 100%.
