In the west.

I need a reason to dodge a meeting at the end of the day.

It's a meeting about justifying our departments existence. It is the same every year, we do this and we are fabulous at that and wonderful at the other.

If you don't attend will they make your department redundant?

I'm not sure about that but it could be used in a restructuring in the future, but hopefully I will be retired by then.

Will you have any meaningful input which could potentially safeguard the employment of you and your colleagues (or just your colleagues if you're retiring soon)? If so, attend and give that input.

If not, use the old chestnut of your Internet/the VPN is playing up if working from home.

You should ho and put your case across. Especially if you have colleagues that need your support or may hold that against you and spoil your working relationships.

Yes I do have something to say, I usually do as some of my colleagues are quite young and are a bit apprehensive about speaking out. I always try to give positive comments and be constructive no matter if it will affect me or someone else.

I think my colleagues would be okay as we can fit into all the other departments as we service them. I think it is more for the managers to save their jobs in the future.

I think only 3 of us have been invited but it won't spoil our relationships inside and outside of work.

There are other meetings over the next couple of weeks that my colleagues are going to.
