i have 2 ,they keep each other company ,n wudnt b with out them ,,,,so ide say yes ,,have u been round ur local rescue centres ,,,,

is that really part of the consideration?

only get a og if you have the time, the patiece, the bank balance etc to look after one

i would love a french bulldog but i dont have the money to buy one, i am not home enough to keep it company (i cant get home at lunchtime when it is a puppy etc), if i want to go away i cant aford to put it in kennels and ouldnt burden my fmily with it.

so for me, right now a dog is not possible

i feel sorry for dogs that are left on their own a lot, when people are at work and stuff, someone near us had a dog and it used to make an awful noise howling because it was so lonely.

i dont think people realise how awful it is to be lonely bored and neglected.

i knew a man who had a german shepard and it was realy nervous because it was left in the house alone all day.

Yeah thats awfull, someone on my road has to jack russell alone all day howling away, not nice to hear.

It is a huge commitment, and I have to make certain lifestyle adjustments in order to keep mine.

I can no longer drop everything and travel at will, need to be home to walk him etc. etc...

However, he is worth it.

So the way i see it, there is someone home all day, we don't get out much because of the kids anyway, so really would our lives have to change that much?

I got mine 3 years ago, my first dogs ever and I can not begin to describe the laughs I have had with them. They are as mad as mad can be, they have me demented at times but where I was 3 years ago in my head, is a completely different place, partially down to them.

My home feels empty without the pets. Good job the dog gets on with the cat, otherwise, it would break my heart having to give him up.

Mine is officially re-homed, as he was my late partner's dog.

However, he spent his first night away from his mum and littermates at mine, so he knew me well before he came to live with me and the cat full time.

Puppies are fun, however, re-homing a dog is likely to be more satisfying.

If I were to get more pets, I would get a couple of rats, as they are very intelligent and great fun.

Don't think they would last long with the cat and dog about though.

Do you like picking up pooh.. can you afford a couple hundred a year on flea worming and vaccinations.. twenty a month in insurance..

do you have good family that will take it i so you can holiday..

do you like drool over all your clothes settees and car.

Depends if you have time for one

if you both work all day id say no as i feel its unfair leaving a dog alone for hours on end, if you work different hours so as a rule someones usually in then yes if you want one

If you've not had a dog before read some behaviour books and books on different breeds. If there's a specific breed you're interested in read what they were bred for what health problems that breed suffers from. Golden retrievers are prone to cancer. German shepherds hip dysplasia. Dalmatians deafness to name only a few breed problems. If you're interested in a crossbreed and know what the crosses are read about those breeds. A happy dog is a well balanced dog who knows where he is in the pecking order. All humans in the household must be above him

a dog can be as hard work as having a child, if you think you have the time to look after it then yes go for it, we had two, now sadly one as one passed away, but love having a dog. but just had to pay a 300 pound vet bill
