So for those who are meeting, I know alot still aren't. How do you feel about doing a lateral flow test before your meet. I feel considering whats going on in the world, its the least we can do for each other??

Personally I’d rather they’d had a recent sti checkup.

A bit of a cold I can handle…

I test three times a week for my job anyway so it makes no difference to me. But in general if someone asked me to, I would happily do whatever makes them more comfortable.

I test frequently for work but i'd happily do a LFT before meeting if someone asked for that. However i only meet in a club so it's unlikely everyone would want to test.

Btw i have covid atm

I’d still rather them have a recent Sti checkup than a covid test.

I'd prefer if they let me do a rectal temp check

But no, I wouldn't do a LFT before a meet. If they asked me to do one I'd politely say we probably weren't a good "fab match" and wish them well.

The key to my statement was ‘personally’.

Let me explain for you… Having dealt with covid myself and not really being effected by the little cold I experienced I’d much much rather any meet be free from more serious conditions that might be passed onto me in some form.

The original question was about me personally and so I’ve answered it from a personal perspective.

The way you chose to respond to my statement gave the impression that you thought my statement was reckless.

I’m highlighting that it’s my personal take on the matter and that had you properly read it you would better understand it.

Nothing to do with a STI test.

I probably wouldn't meet them if I'm honest.

I've had Covid quite badly, took months to recover from.

I've had 2 jabs and a booster done.

I avoid meeting anyone if I'm slightly unwell with anything so not to make someone else poorly.

If that isn't enough then they aren't for me anyway.

The world needs to start moving forward at some point.

And I'm 100% with Sam on his point, would much prefer genuine, clean,Sti checked anyday over an LF test as they aren't always accurate either.

I do regular LFT for my job (3 a week) so I'm happy to provide.

If someone didn't provide one, if I asked, I wouldn't play with them. Because if you have nothing to hide. Youd'd do the test.

If the question had been would you rather have an STI test or a LFT...

I think most would say the STI

Interesting to see the assumptions about what COVID is like… I’m not sure how much our own experience of symptoms can or should be generalised. If you have had it mildly - great! But there’s plenty of ostensibly healthy people who have ended up with long COVID. Asking for people to take an LFT isn’t a big imposition- they’re still free, they aren’t hard to do and they can set peoples minds at rest. Seems like a sociable thing to do to me

I do LFTs anyway, even when meeting for socials. They aren't perfect but they're better than nothing.

I wouldn't have an issue with anyone requesting one.

I’m doing them regularly for work anyway, and have had plenty of runs of daily testing as a close contact. I’m double vaccinated and boosted. I feel like that’s all enough, to be honest.

If someone wanted me to take an LFT specifically before meeting I’d probably decline to meet - I take public transport every day, spend a lot of time with small children and with people who work in schools and hospitals; if people are very concerned about transmission then I’m likely too high risk for them. It’s not about having something to hide or not caring about others, more about risk appetites not really being in sync.
