At what age would you think its odd to use acronyms/initialisms or abbreviations as substitutes for words?

I used to use the word lol all time time but now I try to avoid it.

Disclaimer. I still use wtf so this maybe a pointless thread!

No age. I use lol, btw, wtf, fml etc etc and will probably still be using them when the young 'uns don't know what they mean. Like groovy
