If men were blocked from making first contact

This had to be done by the women or couples

Ooh, Bumble is like this, isn’t it?

I don’t think it would work on here though. So many men would get no messages, and end up leaving in their droves!

I’m not great at making the first move, and have been approached by some lovely men who would have otherwise passed me by.

Where would I fit into that?

And no mattter where I did fit into that, no it would not be better, men have the same rights as women to make the first contact on here. That they sometimes make an arse of their opening message is not a format error but an individual one

"Stupid question what is bumble?"

Not stupid at all! It’s a dating app where women make the first move (ie initiate contact first).

On it... we can do it for ourselves with filters and save the Fab admin

No. I have strict message filter options that help filter out many of those, I like chatting to people from the forums and quite often play a sunday status riddle game with many

Not for us.

We cannot be arsed trawling through profiles and so almost every meeting we’ve had has been with someone that messaged or winked at us first.

In the west.

Maybe they (we) should only be allowed to contact ladies and couples if they have their spelling and grammar checked before the message is sent.

That being said they would just select a couple's profile. I've had a few messages lately from couples, hmmmm , with shocking grammar and don't get me started in their sentence construction.

Messages I get are mostly from the forum. Don't think I've bothered sending a message to someone not on the forum in months. Seems a bit pointless.

I like my forum friends.

Not sure it would. We aren't looking for single guys and get a lot of messages which are the usual "hot woman look at wang" but occasionally there are some real nice gems that come through which are thoughtful and nice.

Wouldn't get those pick me ups if it was

To be able to do that though we would have to come up with the most boring cut n past message to send to everyone, three times a day in the hope we may get somewhere.

That takes effort

Any women and couples who want fab to work that way can easily apply mail filters to make it happen. The fact that so few do yet complain so much baffles me...

Nope I think this would be such a bad plan, if like me you are a single guy that doesnt have a stunning body and is crap at taking a decent picture we often have to rely on sending the first message to catch someones interest using our charm and wit lol, not that works all the time either but taking away the ability to send the first message would I think ruin it here

I'm exactly the same, I'm so shy about starting conversations but I'm fine once it's begun - J

Why? It's a good idea and many women and couples do it already by blocking men.

Travelling

Better is obviously up for debate, as the result would be highly subjective.

Some people just refuse to send a first message, so the place would not be for them. In this case the already low number of women would likely reduce even more because those that just won't make first contact would get no interest towards themselves.

By limiting first contact to just one group reduces the number of potential successful matches made. I can imagine there are a fair few women that will have been pleasantly surprised from being contacted by a man they may otherwise never have considered. His message winning her over.

Bumble (dating app) does this, the ladies initiate the conversation after a mutual match is made. It has its pros and cons for the format.

I personally have no issue with making first contact but I still think it's less than ideal. There's so many men on here and with search results being limited to 10 pages, men have to be online constantly to even appear in the search results.

Not for me personally. I prefer an assertive guy so like them to make the 1st move, plus im far too shy to send the 1st message . I just use my message filters when im not looking to chat with anyone new. X

We mostly only look for single men but Mrs doesn’t like using fab so it would just be me scrolling through endless single male profiles. I’d get bored after 5 minutes so it wouldn’t work for us.

"If men were blocked from making first contact

After seeing all the complaints made due to single men actions on fab, I would agree to having couples and single women making the first move.
