"Personally, I prefer to stay clear from friends exs . It’d annoy me if it was the other way around. Like there’s plenty of freaking fish in the sea, do you really have to go there?"

Nope keep your friends and get away from your ex's " Exactly. I just think it’s awkward and not appropriate. Of course, it can happen.. but for me, it can ruin friendships etc So it’s a no from me

"Yes I think it is. People don't own each other and once a relationship is over they're free agents. Of course there are often reasons why a person might feel it disrespectful to date a friend's ex eg if they were very upset about the break up" Agreed but even still if enough time or water had passed then it's fine.

"Also what is this thing where some men think they need to ask their friends if it's ok to date their sister? " Because they might find it weird? I don't see it as a chivalry/ woman owning thing. More friends that want to stay friends and not have it be weird.

It’s not about owning but I think, friends want to keep their friends, and going there isn’t the smartest move in my opinion. As I said, it’d probably bring me to drift A) becuase I don’t wanna see my ex . Period B) don’t wanna see my ex with my friend C) it’s just awkward all around I find this extremely awkward with my BFF who split up with her ex, and her ex is part of a group of my friends x so sometimes, I see him with his new gf in the group

" I still think it's permission for his friend's blessing and not necessarily an ownership thing. I do understand what you mean though and absolutely it can oftentimes infer ownership.

"Friends or Family ex's." Yep, just because my relationship with them didn’t work out doesn’t mean someone else can’t have a go.

"If it meant two people found happiness, I would be happy for a friend to date my ex." Right on! Or, it ensures that only two people are miserable instead of four.

"As I said earlier, why is it people feel comfortable sharing a partner but less tolerant when an ex is with someone they know?" Because they no longer have control or ownership of the situation. In a swinging relationship your partner goes home with you, your ex goes home with someone else
