Is it rude…..

For new or newish members, non verified in anyway to ask for face pictures in their profiles when you send your first message to them?

When they don’t have any pictures either displayed or in a gallery at all.

Is it lack of experience or something else that makes them think it’s acceptable to ask for face pictures?

We do appreciate we are all different in lots of ways but we find it off putting when people demand face pictures before any interaction.

Interested to hear peoples thoughts.

I’d rather see a face pic straight off, then you know is there is an attraction.

It's not any different than someone who is verified or a long time member.

I understand completely what you're saying in regards to how people demand face pics but not sure why it matters how established the member is.

No, not rude

But they may be disappointed about not getting messages or complain when they don't get face pics ..

You can ask for what you like (, within reason and the rules), doesn't mean you'll get it

The way we look at it is if someone makes first contact, as it is unsolicited they should play by the recipient’s rules. If you don’t like their rules you have the option to not contact them.

I don't think it's rude for them to ask, just like it's not ar all rude for you to decline.

Somewhere in Co. Down

It's their profile they can ask for whatever they want regardless of how long they are on the site. It's up to anyone looking at their profile whether they want to send a pic or not.

Just move on if the profile isn't what you are interested in.

No picture profiles wanting something from no picture profiles - I'm cool with that, seems fair to me

Shangri-la

I never send face pics on demand so if they stipulated that on their profile I would just move on to the next, regardless of whether they had pics on their profile or not.

They are perfectly entitled to request face pics but no kne is obliged to send them.

If they message me first and ask for a face pic I just say no.

No it isn't rude in my opinion. You don't have to contact them if you don't like what they write.

I would not send a face picture to someone who doesn't have any pictures themselves.

That being said I probably would message them in the first place, because I wouldn't know I'm attracted to someone if they have no pictures.

we generally ask for face pics because it's nice to see in a person's face if they look kind friendly or if there is any attraction there were all different and sometime a photograph is the complete opposite of somebody that you looking for and the thing we found is sometimes although people send photographs they may be a considerable time ago so it doesn't generally show you who you may potentially meet which is a shame

If I messaged somebody I’d only ask for Costa voucher codes or pictures of their dogs in the first message.

Wouldn’t dream of wanting to know what somebody I’m talking to looks like.

We don't think its rude to expect face pictures. It depends on who is messaging who.

We make it quite clear on our profile what we're here for so if a we are messaged by people with intentions to meet they'd better be prepared to show us what they look like.

It's not rude in the slightest and completely acceptable for them to ask for what ever they want on their profile.

I only read your O.P. O.P. .......

Why do you differentiate between what a new member does and a long time member does ?

A member is a member surely? Or do some people think they have certain rights ?

If it's rude it's rude for all.

I don't think it's out of order at all.

You don't have to know. I know what I look like and that's okay by me.

Nobody is going to get anywhere with me, without sending a face pic.

I've always asked for one, that's were the attraction lies.

Well if you send the first message and they ask for face pics...don't see an issue, we only send first messages to profiles with veris. and we feel an attraction to and we always attach a face pic. We will never share a face pic with someone with no veris even if they send theirs first.

It's not rude, but if you're not comfortable doing it, just pass them by. People can ask for what they want and you decide if that's for you or not.

I tend to have a simple rule with respect to face pics, whoever asks for them should send first whether that’s in an initial message or after a string of messages.

So if I’m asked either in the first message or after a few days of chatting “so, can I see a face pic then” I won’t unless they do first.

Similarly I won’t ask without sending my own.

Not unreasonable imho.

I don't send messages but if someone contacts me and asks for a facepic I don't care if they joined up yesterday or 14 years ago they won't be getting one.

I don't care if they are unverified or have 100 veries they won't be getting one.

There's nothing rude about asking for one unless it shows they haven't taken the time to read my profile.

If you want to see what I look like then follow the instructions on my profile.

As others have said, everyone is free to run their own profile as they see fit and ask for whatever but it only becomes rude if they don't respect others boundaries.

I don’t think it’s rude. They are just as entitled as anyone else to ask…and that’s all it is, asking.
