So I’m running my first half Marathon on Sunday. Obviously I’ve done the distance several times in the lead up to this but if anyone has any specific tips I’d love to hear them. Also if you are also running the Farnborough half Marathon give me a yell x

Enjoy it. You've done the training, just enjoy the atmosphere.

Don’t go off too fast. Everyone will have a 5/10 min confidence dip feeling they are too slow, too knackered, too sore - run through it, it will pass guaranteed. Get up earlier than you need and eat a proper breakfast

Cheshire

Start at the back unless you’re an elite runner. Better to overtake than be overtaken.

Study the route know where the hill are.

First and last mile are the easiest, first you’re feeling strong and the last you’ll know you’ll finish.

Throw your water bottle to the side, they’re a tripping hazard.

Don’t worry about the next mile, concentrate on the mile you’re running.

Cut your toenails .

Grease your nipples. I finished the London Marathon with a bloody top.

Smile, especially when you’re finding that 10th mile hard, you’re almost finished.

Liverpool half marathon ignore the scouse marshals as they’re having a laugh telling you the finish line is just around the next corner.

PB’s are great but finishing is just as good.

Enjoy it, not everyone has done it or could do it.
