Why would she need to? That's what insurances are for. Have you ever had a refund direct from the pocket of an artist for a cancelled show?

I was listening to an interview on the news just now and they were saying anybody who had booked hotels or flights unless they can claim through their own insurance or credit card will not be reimbursed.

Go they were interviewing somebody on the television who is involved in the industry and they said something fishy seems to be going on.

To cancel the day before because the show isn't ready but they thought it would be, But then to cancel all the shows right through till April rather than just delayed seems odd.

I wouldn't see her if it was free, but if I'd binned out a couple of hundred quid to travel and see her... I'd probably rather she did a 10 minute song and a few audience q and a than nothing at all...

It's like anything isn't it.? If people can see she's made some effort to offer some return for the contract she's entered into they'd be more forgiving. If she just bails out last minute... Well shit happens but it doesn't look good and blaming covid is weak sauce. If she'd offer full refund and hours audience with Adele with a couple of acoustic songs and some q and a for those who'd bought tickets she'd have been seen as doing her best to look after her fans. Maybe that doesn't work with all the ancillary merch and food and so on contracts but where there's a will...

Interesting dilemma that I’m glad I don’t have to think about.

I’ve no idea what deliveries she hasn’t had but it could make a huge difference.

I’d like to say put on a show despite things but she would get criticism either way.

I’m not a huge fan but having such a great opportunity to shine, covid has mucked it up for her. Let’s face it covid could have treated all concerned far worse.

Depends on what roles need to be filled. Logistics and behind the scenes things can't always be handed out to any old agency recruit. It is also in USA, so there may potentially be rules/regulations getting in the way of just bringing in so many people last minute.

Shit happens, both for her/her show and for those travelling. It's a risk that is involved with such things.

Make the most of the holiday to Vegas, sell the tickets to somebody else (when it rescheduled) and don't support her again if people feel she did them wrong.

Yeah good point, I'd want the 10 minute songs and chat but also still be able to go to the rescheduled concert. She couldn't do the chat for free.

This is the nature of travel for any purpose.

I had to cancel going to a gig because I had covid m. No refund for that. Lucky it was a drive away and I hadn’t bought travel or accommodation.

But if I had, I would have done that independently, and likely I would not have been able to cancel those either. Well, I would, as for this type of travel I always book o e that lets me cancel for free up to the day before as I’ve been stung so much with cancelled gigs..

But even the ticket, Adele wasn’t paid directly by fans. It works like this, the venues book the artist (or sometimes the artist books the venue) the contract is to have use of the venue for that time either way. The venue then has the right to sell tickets. Which they’ll 95% pass off to ticketing people, few will buy box office directly from the venue. So your ticket is a contract to see a show, between you and the reseller, who has a contract with the venue to allow the sake, who has a contract with the artist to use the venue…

It’s how capitalism works. If the chain is broken, a reseller goes bust and doesn’t mail the tickets, the venue has a flood and can’t use the space, the artist chips a nail and can’t perform…..

… none of that has any bearing on the fact you bought a train ticket and hotel.

Ok if you’re lucky, you have travel insurance or gig insurance. Most won’t. The guy is cancelled isn’t a good reason to refund your train ticket. You’re train ticket contract is one of providing transport, not transport for a given reason.

This is why holidays had to introduce Abta and such, so one part of the chain can’t do you over.

Maybe they could do a similar scheme for gigs, but would anyone ‘package holiday’ a gig? I don’t think so

They've been "packaging" gigs for years in Austria, Spain, France ...for Festivals... For Big stars, same as they do for major sports events... They wrap travel, hotel and sometimes a bit of face time with a celeb around a gig or event.. ... Is that what you mean?
