Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I've fallen down a This is Us rabbit hole.

It used to be on late night on some channel or other a few years ago and then it just disappeared. Now it's on Disney+ and I spent two weeks binge catching up, and heading to the final series.

It has been a very comforting thing to watch. I very rarely binge watch anything.

Anyhoo, if anyone else watches it I have a question for you.

Which character is the lead/main character:

Jack?

Rebecca?

Randall?

Kate?

Kevin?

I watched this on Prime until I got a bit fed up of it. I like the music more than anything.

I'm not sure anyone is the lead it seems they take turns. I began to get annoyed with all of them.

I love this is us but hate it at the same time, I never come away thinking "I feel so happy" lol. But I still watch it.

Fave characters? Nicky! But Always Kevin, never Randell (woe is me).

Love the concept but sometimes feels like it drags and drags.

Can't wait for the final few episodes and hopefully tie up all the loose end.

Prime! That explains why I couldn't find it anywhere.

I can understand getting annoyed with them. I have found it comforting at this odd time.

It's presented as no specific lead but I have a theory...

Jack is a central theme. And, yes... I have a thing for that actor too (he also reminds me of a friend on here).

Nicky is an interesting choice.

I think the concept is very clever. I think in other moods I might find it drags at times but I've been watching 3 episodes a day for the last two weeks and having to stop myself. I've just finished season 5 and guessing how all the bits fit together for the final the end.

Hefty Hideaway

Lickety, it makes me cry so much.

I love it because underneath this well ‘ard exterior I’m a massive softie.

I can’t pick a favourite but baby Jack makes me melt big time.

I read some stuff on Reddit after the last season ended and theories of what was going to happen. I'll see if any of them come true.

You're supposed to have a hard exterior?

Baby Jack has been written to make us melt - that's why he was introduced with his puppy.

If you've seen a enough I think it becomes obvious that each of the leads taps into something we can relate to. You can switch 'allegiance' to a character and not affect your feelings about the whole. Each lead also offers a character type that you can relate to, which offers a chance to commit to that character.

Having said all of that, I think Randell is the lead. He's the cuckoo in the nest the drives most of the character development and more of the storylines.

I haven't started season 6 yet but I have my story arc theories for the conclusion.

I think it's the crying that led to the binge-watching. I needed to cry.

If you're up to date, then for me clearly it's always been Rebecca's story. From her big moment at Kate's wedding up to this latest episode (season 6 episode 17) which incidentally is now my favourite episode of the entire run- it was season 1 ep 15 before this which is when Randall and William took their road trip to Memphis.

This latest episode is a masterpiece. For anybody who hasn't seen it yet, brace yourselves. It's a beautiful tribute to life's joys and sadnesses. I was still crying 2 hours after watching.

Paradise, Herts

I started watching it as people were raving about it but I got fed up of it. I’d say Jack is the main character from what I watched, which was quite a lot.

Somewhere In The Ether…

I’m not sure if there is a main protagonist as such, rather the Pearson family dynamic as a whole.

My favourite character is Randal though.

I'm all caught up, I won't give anything away but I'll say this, make sure you have snacks, stable adult and a blanket (and tissues).

I’ve just have the last one to watch. I have got a bit bored of it at times and found it a bit depressing but I’ve enjoyed the last season, seeing how far the characters have come and tying things up.

Got to say I’m also liking the more mature looking Kevin

The right place

I just watched the last two episodes. I'm a mess of snot and tears now.

But it was beautifully done.

So glad that they did the ending well.
