No , I'm not talking about Titanic

Yesterday I did something I had thought I would never do again... I was a nude model for a life drawing hen party. The first time I did it, it was nerve racking, standing butt naked in front of a dozen tipsy ladies giggling, probably objectifying me, making snarky comments ("can you shake your ass cheeks for us" was just one of them ) ...yes women can be like that. However yesterday, which was the second time, I felt different (although I still got the sexual banter and snarky comments) I think I just didn't care that much, I just went in , did what I had to do, and got out... and I can tell you it is a head on approach of dealing with body insecurities and low self esteem

...and that's probably the main reason I have done it.

Has anyone else done something similar? Or would you ever do it?

I love this post. Every year I write a list of achievements to accomplish.

I'm on my second pole dancing class this weekend. For sure I lack grace but I love it.

Bravo. I'd consider life drawing model one year if I was more toned and in a different area X

I would love to do it. But I'd fully expect all sorts of comments. However famous artworks quite often featured fuller figured subjects so id not care about the comments. I'd be more interested to see the results after but that probably vecyae I take an interest in art. Body confidence wise I wonder if it would even affect me.

How do you get into this?

Good for you doing it and not letting the first experience stop you.

Well firstly; we’re you paid? If so, then it’s a no brainier just lead the way!

I studied art at college and later at university, I did lots of life drawing and though I never did any posing, it would not phase me in the least.

One of the very well known clichés thrown around in life drawing is that you don’t want body beautiful models, The Rubensian figure is much better as it gives you something to get your pencil around !

I don’t think anyone should be ashamed of their body.

I've attended a ton of life drawing groups (posed a couple of times tho not in group setting)

depends on the kinda group you attend but I've drawn an painted just about every male and female body type you can imagine.

If it's a thing you'd like to do i can assure you that your body type (whatever it is) is a body type people want to draw.

Ive been in groups where hen parties do occasionally turn up but tbh, the air of concentration within the group is quite infectious so a few girlie giggles but models get respect as they should.

Unless it's a 'special' group, I've never seen a male model get hard; proper posing is hard work, no energy left for stiffies

and yes, I've been in 'special' life drawing groups too...tho not for ages x

God no...a man needs to feel and be very comfortable in order to get aroused...to be naked in front of a group of random people is psychologically draining. You are the center of attention and to deal with that is mentally exhausting. If a man said he nude modelled in front of a group of people and got an erection...my first reaction would be " you're full of sh*t"

...but who knows, maybe...can't speak for all men

I'm being silly. I can't draw to save my life. If I tried to draw you (or a French girl or anyone else), it'd probably be a stick person with a line for a sticky-out penis. I may extend to drawing the lines in different colours, but that's pushing the limits of my drawing skills.

I have been previously asked to do this for a local art class. I was seriously considering it but noticed in their FB group one of the attendees was a lady who I used to work for so declined. Would love to be drawn or photographed by someone though.

It's an interesting thought. I couldn't do it for a hen or stag group or that sort of thing, but for an actual art class I reckon I could.

It would be a massive test because I don't really have the confidence to be naked in front of people I don't know, and the idea is actually making me nervous even now. But that's the point I guess.

I hear they really like rolls of fat and stretch marks and all that, so they'd love me. Plus I'm really good at not moving (yeah, the sack of spuds position is my favourite

I don't think I'd want to see the results though, because it wouldn't be about that, and would likely make me focus on all the parts of me I hate the most

I have recently had a conversation with a certain person about him drawing me like one of *his* French girls..... but we will have to see
