I don't think there is anything much in clubs in Devon or Cornwall The nearest place that I know of is Route69 club in Weston-Super-Mare, which is a nice but small place. I have called in there a few times as a driving break when I've been travelling between Cornwall and Manchester, certainly more fun to spend a couple of hours than going to a service station, also better/cheaper coffee!
I guess it would be possible for two or three of the ladies over in the south west to rendezvous and car share for a trip over to a social party across the country? Or vice versa, for folk from the north or east to travel together down towards the south and west. All meet up somewhere central, say Stonehenge at Mid-summer midnight  | |||

"My first kiss with a girl was hilarious (for me). Bit of back story: The summer I did my GCSEs, some friends and I worked in a school uniform shop. " My first trans-lesbian experience, that is first experience with a woman after I'd started coming to terms with my gender and presenting as female: This was about five years after I'd realised that I'm (mostly) female in my head. A couple of years of slowly going from a hairy bloke questioning his gender, to discovering the trans support groups in Manchester, to gaining the confidence to show myself out in the world. Then about three years of public life - bi-gendered, pretending to be male for work to family members, but female for pretty well every other part of my life. So this was five years as trans with no form of sex at all, and several years previously as male with no form of sex. Maybe ten years since my previous (pretty catastrophic) attempts at any form of sexual relationship. There was a woman that I'd come into contact with in my female social life, from India and in England to do a PhD at Manchester - mature student. She was part of my social circle, shared interests in film, music, art and a bunch of other things. Must have been at least two years from first meeting her, gradually finding ourselves at the same events etc. Sometimes several of us had been out places in my car, showing her and her friends places around the Manchester area. One summer evening after a movie with the gang, there were just the two of us left and she said "lets go for a drive somewhere, it's a nice evening, is there somewhere with a view?". Half an hour later we were parked on top of a hill overlooking the Manchester cityscape, lots of lights twinkling. I was leaning across pointing out places, our faces came near, and she kissed me... A few minutes later we were half naked with the car seats flattened down. It was her first experience with male or female (Indian culture). My first experience with a woman as a woman. We stayed together until she completed her PhD and had to return to India. The relationship had to be secret, none of her friends and particularly her parents could find out about it or it would destroy her reputation (Indian culture...). It was impossible for her to stay in England because of visa rules - the government has made it pretty well impossible for anyone with brown skin to be allowed to work here unless they have a couple of million to donate to the tory party. (Even marriage does not give residency rights, there are many English/foreign married couples who have been forced to live apart in different countries because their income does not meet the requirements.) It was impossible for me to visit her in India (unmarried woman living with her parents...). That was about six years ago. There have been a few sexual encounters with women (mostly one offs) via fab, but nothing approaching a relationship. A couple of experiences with couples. I really don't know quite how anybody views my gender, whether what I see as a lesbian connection they see as a heterosexual connection. Some people I find it easy to talk with and to find common points of interest and experience, other people it can be very difficult. I can't think of any one physical type that attracts me, or even any particular age group. Someone that I can talk to and neither of us feels uncomfortable. Definitely someone that takes joy in reading and music. Someone that appreciates the beauty of a sunset, or a windswept beach in winter, or the night time vista over city lights. Someone that also feels a sense of awe and respect when they look at the stars on a clear dark night. | |||
