Somewhere In The Ether…

I’m at it again (on behalf of Sydney University)

This time I want to know:

Do you socialise with your work colleagues outside of your work place (as friends) or else do you prefer to keep business and pleasure very much separate?

While I work with them I keep it work. As soon as I leave it's all very different and I socialise with them.

My team is spread all over the world, not even met any of them. So work is work, social is social to me at the moment.

My firends are those I met through my last workplace. I've been on holiday with 2 of them. Best firends in the world

No, we don't have common interests other than work. I used to when I was younger

I do sometimes see them socially as I have worked with some of them over 20 years so we are friends as well as colleagues. However we do not discuss work while we are out in a social situation.

We’re quite a sociable team and we sometimes go out for tea and or a few drinks. Most of us have worked together for a long time and there’s now only 8 of us left on our particular team. We all get on really well and can leave work stuff at work so we have fun. We invite other people from work to come along with us and sometimes some do. As we all work from home now it’s lovely to get together on a social basis.

I used to, but less so now. I have long standing friends I used to work with.

My little work team goes out now and then. I'm lucky that I work with people that are lovely and we get on well outside of work. I've worked in jobs where this wasn't the case and I realised that it was making me miserable. Work takes up so much of your time it makes it better when you're surrounded by nice people.

I used to, in my old place of work. But I was childless then, and had no pet pooches waiting on me to get back home.

I have done before but not with the last work place, a few years and I just never really seemed to fit in or gel with anyone

Socialise now and again with work people, but generally the work friends are people I used to work with

Worthing

When I worked in an office, I was on good terms with most people but just wanted to get home after work.

I've got two close friends I've known 10 years or more that I met through work.

I don't really socialise with work colleagues now, apart from the Christmas party and occasional lunch. I have to be on my best behaviour these days, so, it's not as much fun..

No. I'm the boss, so choose not to.

I will if it is a work related event, but other than that no.

Which is at times hard, as although it is the correct approach, I'm very sociable, so I just remind myself I have friends for that

Heck no! I like to keep work and everyone in it separate from my social/private life, never the twain will meet

No, I always kept my work life and social life separate, especially when I ran the team.

Always been separate until the job I was in for almost 7 years had the two most loveliest ladies, so I still keep in touch with them and have seen them for lunch over the years. They've been wonderful support over the last few years x
