I have a ps5 and like it but want a xbox, the game pass is good on xbox but I've always had playstation first and prefer the pads and you have the haptic feedback on ps5 which adds to gaming

The Xbox Series X is better on paper on everything between those two alone (I prefer PC).

It is all down to your preference of games and where your friends play though.

I’ll likely get and Xbox X when the new Fable game is released. I’m keen to see how it is different from the Lionhead Fable games, especially as I worked on Fable II

You worked on Fable II?? I have a very vague recollection there was a new Fable being released but I didn't know it was soon. Might actually sway me to get an Xbox...

Xbox,

If not for the game pass ultimate alone. Being able to play across both PC & Xbox is a real changer.

This is bad advice. Monitors are great and they vary in size, the 4k ghosting issue on cheaper TVs is also a thing of the past so you can spend a little on a decent TV and be fine with it.

The Series S is hot garbage.

It's the worst performing console which struggles to meet the performance criteria put out by Xbox. What do I know though? I just look at the information that is put out by Xbox and tech channels.

I'm pro-xbox but it is important to call out the bad performing ones and not give in to our internal bias.

So setting up a pc is pretty much the same as setting up a ps5 or xbox? Just plug and play into your tv? Would you play with a controller on pc or a keyboard?

Wasn’t going to post but I will for a start there’s a big reason Microsoft are separate lobby’s for Xbox series X and s and one

The 4K 120hz mode on the series X is a complete legal god mode cheat been sitting at 4K 120hz from the day the series X came out and can tell when I am up ageinst someone in 60hz mode

Also able to clip unatble times in 4K 120hz mode

150 mil seconds dropped off a time

No tune agustments or anything

Only thing I done was switch the console from 60hz to 120hz and I dropped a new world record

So how does this and the previous post mean my Series S criticism was rubbish? You just agreed with me by saying the X was great...

The TV and monitor argument is one sided though, a monitor is far better. Plus you can buy at least one 4k 120Hz TV under 1k.

I've got a PS5 and it's a good console, I'm just waiting for them to expand the games library on it a bit as it's thin on the ground at the moment, not many games that show off the next gen capability as most are just slightly improved versions of PS4 games. Most of what's available on the store are indie games with very retro graphics which isn't what I bought it for.

I'm a PC gamer as well though and my RTX3080 fuelled machine pisses all over the PS5 and Xbox from a technical standpoint.

The cheapest true 4K 120hz tv you find is a Samsung q70t

If your a single player only gamer then series X without the 120hz is fine

But if your wanting to play competitive multiplayer then

If your not going to spend the money on the screen

Then go series s to away from those 120hz players

As there’s the person in 120hz is seen everything before you

Im on the xbox series S purely because its impossible to get the series X. I have a 4k LG tv and the difference between the Xbox One and the series S is noticeable. IMO miles better. So whatever version you choice with regards to xbox or even the playstation it will still be leaps ahead of the old generation. Speaking of which im playing abit of Warzone right now

From I've read about them both - there is not much in it.... about the same in my opinion.

Is it still difficult to get one? Or was it just lockdown?

PS - Better exclusives (and eventually PSVR2 which looks like it could be amazing)

XBox - Better console, better non-exclusives (the vast majority of games) and Game Pass.

XBox for me (or a good PC and Game Pass).

Given the gpu alone costs nearly 2x the price of a modern console you’d expect the 3080 to do well!

"Whats a game pass? Does it just enable you to play online?"

It's a bit like Netflix for games.

For about £11 a month you get access to download and play something like 300 games for free, many of which (all of MS's and more) are available from their release date.

It also allows you to play online, and allows you to play games, steaming off the Internet without downloading.

If you get Game Pass Ultimate (which I think is all that's available on XB), it also gives you the same for PC.

I think that covers it. Amazing offer!

I have a PS5, like others have said it is a good console but there is a lack of stand out games at the present time.

I have never owed an xbox so cannot pass judgement on its pros and cons

I say it is a good console, I had to send it back twice due to various issues which seems to be linked to the cmos battery. Finally got sent a new one.

I have a Series X, and my son has a Series S. Tbh on a 4k TV that does 60fps max there isn't a massive difference. If you're not sure I'd say go for the Series S. Most of the games in the States I play with are on Series S. All the cash you save can go towards extra controllers or something else.

And if you want to know how to get Xbox Games Pass very cheap give me a shout and I'll tell you the worst kept secret to a shitload if games.

For those interested in PS5 and missing the Game pass - Sony have a project underway codenamed 'Spartacus' which is due to be launched this spring, and is expected to be a Gamepass rival, and will likely wrap in Ps Plus and replace Ps Now
