Towering inferno is a classic. From that era I’d add The Poseidon Adventure.

True disasters is The Impossible or Alive.

A classic film. Odd though they used to choose these to show at Xmas!

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

I watched ‘Don’t look up’ a few days ago and thought that was excellent, a brilliant social satire as well as being a disaster movie

The Towering Inferno has Paul Newman and Steve McQueen sharing top billing. On the opening credits it had to be done in a way that neither are seen as the main ‘star’ of the film.

Then add in Fred Astaire and Richard Chamberlain who plays a perfect villain.

I wanted to be a firefighter after watching that film (still do) and it’ll always be in my top 100 films I’ve ever seen.

My mate dragged me to this at the cinema. I was really dreading another disaster flick. How I laughed as it dawned on me it was an excellent piss take.
