Do you believe that there is some truth in the legend of the chained oak tree and the curse it's connected with or is it just a ghost story passed down over the centuries from one generation to the next?

The legend is that an Earl of Shrewsbury was cursed by a beggar or a witch who said that a member of his family would die when a branch falls from the old oak tree so the Earl had the tree chained up and it remains in chains to this day.
