It didn't leave me with the slightly yucky feeling I used to get from their burgers when I used to eat meat so that's good.

All these vegan burgers are pretty heavily processed plants though so I wouldn't eat them too often.

I'd forgotten how good the coffee in McDonald's is too.

No Fabio I haven't. In fact I can't remember that last time I went into a McDonalds.

I do like their coffee though.

I do like Linda McCartney Burgers and fill the freezer when they are on offer.

I'll look up the Magento suggestion ....... and maybe i'll visit a Maccie Dees today- tomorrow - this month..... it's not high on my list

A few friends have been dissapointed by it which is sad. I personally do like the burger king plant based burgers though. Apparently only the royale is actually suitable for vegans though, not the whopper.

I get it, but also I don’t get it, they can’t specifically cater for every group no matter how large or small, so catering for the biggies (religion and lifestyle) probably covers 95% and the rest is diminishing returns, which obviously sucks if you have an unusual allergy or illness that prevents you from eating off their menu but how much would it cost in time, money, and waste in disposable gloves or cleaning products or whatever to have them do whatever is needed to satisfy each individual edge scenario?

I was a school cook for 9 years and I catered for celiac children I has separate area to prepare/cook their food but as I explained to the parents there will allways b that small chance and tbh it's not like its anaphylactic (which I refused to cater for) I said to them if u not happy with that then best to bring in their own packed lunch x

Oh I really get it, but unlike say nuts where they can keep them off the menu and ingredients list, every other other is a gluten fest, and if they had to wear gloves once per burger like nurses do with masks per patient, it’s gonna cost time money and waste. And the whole business model is speed efficiency and limited choice. I can’t ask for a well done burger or sauce underneath instead of on top (not sure why I’d want to, but for examples sake) because it breaks their system. Best I can do is ask for no tomatoe if I want it customised in any way. It’s simply not made for people with intolerances to most of their menu. Which sucks

That's interesting. Haven't eaten meat for a few years so I'm not the best judge but to me it was the same as how I remembered a Big Mac.

I'd prefer it if they did a quarter pounder though as Big Macs are kind of annoying to eat. Bits seem to fall out everywhere.

You can't but you can take measures against it. Chiquitoes for example offer a dedicated menu to gluten free and have designated areas especially for that

If a big chain like Chiquitoes can offer that then there is no excuse that globalised company like McDonalds can't

Staunch meat eater here and although I've not tried the McDonald's vegan burger I do eat the beyond meat burgers quite often. Shared one with my daughter tonight (she's veggie) and went back for seconds, they're the closest thing I've eaten to meat and are very good, even cooked the burger medium rare

We've tried them, taste fine , cheese too, although the usual sauces & Gherkins are the most prominent taste. Also, if you haven't tried them (not in McDonalds), Cauldron sausages are the nearest thing to meat filled sausages you'll find anywhere. All Supermarkets have them....Eat away fabbers x

I don't think it's about biggies, it's that things can be certified vegan even if you can't guarantee there aren't tiny trace amounts of animal products but that's not safe for allergy sufferers.

I'm a omnivore, I like meat but don't need meat and I absolutely love great vegetarian/vegan food. But as a meat eater I've tended to be very disappointed with vegan products that pretend to be meat, I.e. plant burgers. They tend not to live up to the hype or taste anything as good as the meat they're supposed to taste like. So I've not tasted the McPlant but experience teaches me to stick to the tradition beef burger range.

Had one for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Very tasty.

The texture of the “burger” put me very much in mind of the really cheap burgers you’d get at a burger van or cafe in the the 70s/80s when I was a kid. No bad thing.

I tried one on the way home the other night..... Probably the tastiest burger on their menu!

I know the bar is set pretty low, but I was genuinely surprised, to find that it was actually quite pleasant.

Only criticism would be that the pickle, overpowered the patty a bit. But once I had eaten all the pickle off the top, it was quite good.

Had one the other day, I was quite underwhelmed tbh. I usually love Beyond Meat products but I think something about the way they cooked it made it too mushy. Plus the bread was all dry and crumbly. 6/10.

BK's Impossible Whopper is nicer texture-wise if you're willing to sacrifice on flavour. But their Vegan Royale is REALLY fucking good

KFC's vegan burger is nice but really quite dry.

But seriously do yourself a favour and try the Vegan Royale, then come back and tell me I was right

I just wish you could swap any meat pattie out for it, rather than being stuck with the at one burger.

Not everyone who wants it is vegan, and vegan cheese is generally pretty horrible.

It is real meat though. The patties are just meat and seasoning.

Part of the reason they taste bland is because they are made to be average. So that they are OK for everyone.

Yeah I tried to swap my vegan cheese and sauce for real cheese and mayo and was told no. But I was allowed to take the tomato out

Yeah they're pretty strict at vegan school. You don't get your license unless you comply with exactly how other people dictate you need to be

I had mine without the cheese and the tomatoes… have to say the mcplant almost tasted like a whopper to be honest!

To a degree, you are correct, and some vegans are extreme to the extent of boycotting organisations like big fast food chains because of the quantity of animal based products they sell.

I’m not that extreme personally but understand the argument. (To take it to its logical conclusion you wouldn’t step into a supermarket chain either to by your vegan food) I frame it differently. Every meet alternative sold is a step in the right direction. The biggest step though is large multi national corporations are embracing it, and that’s a huge step forward!

I’ve tried and enjoyed the McPlant… and the rebel whopper, royale, etc. nice!

I'm same not an extreme at end of day have to accept that its peoples choice to eat meat? I work in supermarket picking meat of the shelf for customer orders daily! And I cook it at home for family that eat it and have been a cook for most of my adult life till my recent job x
