I don’t know if it’s just a wales thing but as of the 1st of January they’ve extended our cervical screening smears to 5 years apart instead of 3. I can’t post the link but if you search this title on change.org there’s a petition.

Keep cervical screening to 3 years and not extended to 5 years.

It’s literally the difference between catching it early and treating it and detecting too late for anything to be done. If people could sign and ask other people to sign as well.

Found, signed and shared. Absolutely ridiculous that they can play with lives like this.....

I had CIN 3 cells removed, god knows what would of happened if it had been left for five years

Chippenham Malmesbury area

Just looked on GOOGLE, it's says its a 3 or 5 year program dependant on age: 25 to 49 year olds are done every 3 years and, every 5 years for those 50 and older.

You're right OP, it appears that Wales will be changing their program to every 5 years for all ages.

Not a great decision but is being done by the devolved government and could be a cost cutting measure. We pay for our prescriptions in England but (for now) it seems that the screening program will remain the same. Would the Welsh support a change to the free prescription policy in order to keep the 3 year screening period?

I wonder what the stats are - as in for every year they extend it by, how many lives are going to ultimately be lost because of it.

NHS is taking from pots to cover this mess we’re in. Disgusting really

It’s quite scary. I know a couple of people who had CIN3 but managed to treat it and are okay now but if they’d had to wait an extra two years they honestly believe they wouldn’t be here now.
