"it wont be crank sensor, it wouldnt run if that wasnt working, its probably due a clean of the idle valve or what ever it has, an italian tune up does wonderful things , so try that first, low gear lots of revs, think 3rd on the motorway for a bit stc, if not carb cleaner to all the bits you can get to, its probably just gunked up from short journeys" What is Carb cleaner?

" It's a bottle of red cleaning fluid that you pay £2-4 for that goes down the same hole that you put your fuel in. The whole bottle is about 200 ml in size. REDEX is the famous brand. This will get rid of the burnt fuel in the chambers, that mixes the air and fuel, where the tip of the spark plug lives (petrol engines only). Think oven cleaner and you sense what job it has to do..remove the burnt crud!

" basicly acatone, same as nail varnish remover, but only put it in places you khow about, if you have no idea then give it a good thrashing up a road, use a lower gear than you think and give the engine a real work out, if not then not more you can do if your not mechanicly minded

I will say this though. if your car is petrol, use the bottle that says for petrol engines, if you have a diesel engine, use the diesel variety only. It sounds patronising, but simple mistakes can end up being very costly and could make things worse. I'm not a mechanic, but I also recommend going to the Peugeot forums as you can't be previous owners' hindsight.

"Really you need to get it plugged in to see if there’s any codes. I’m sure someone on here local to you will have a code reader. code readers are for people who dont know what they are doing" Not true. I can rebuild an engine or gearbox with my eyes closed. But diagnostics has its place. For example anyone who is taking their car to a main dealer should plug their car in first to avoid getting ripped off the stealers! Or in this case, the OP could tell us that a hall sensor has a code, what can I expect to pay to repair this.

So I'll keep this till it's last days. so knowing when call it a day, should be something to discuss when you take it to your mechanic. Get plenty of advice and start swotting up. Knowledge is power, power is money. Make sure you have both.

"APC is that the anti pollution thing? I had that and when it was plugged in it came up with Nox sensor aswell, it's a sensor in the exhaust. Thinks another name for it is a lambda sensor (could be spelling it wrong). I ordered a code reader off of Amazon " You got it right, lambda is the correct name. I ordered one too, but not Amazon.

Oh glad I got it right haha! They are good to have, I took mine in quoting the code I got. And I left with a new fuel injector and funnily enough the fault didn't go, despite me saying they had done the wrong thing. New Nox sensor and all good now. I hope that's not the case for you though OP, they're bloody expensive.

"Well another successful drive.... About 10 miles this time to work. Had to have it running to de I've it and it was fine. Fingers crossed it was just a blip! " Wont be crank sensor as mentioned above as it wouldnt start. If its intermittent id check battery terminals are tight for starters, next if your engine mounts are worn it can put strain on the wiring loom/engine to body earths especially changing gear when the engine rocks. If you have no engine light on or stored faults its unlikely to be a sensor or fueling issue
