I think this type of clumsy insult comes from guys wanting to say something, but but being able to either be honest or articulate enough to get it right. Without putting words into your mouth I’m guessing “I love your arse” would be received better but that seems like a really generic thing to say so it gets followed up with something less pleasant to hear. I guess there’s also a line between the difference of wanting to hear they like your x y or z and of why they like it. I love your Tits, they remind me of my neighbour… etc. hopefully there is solace in knowing they are appreciative in some way and willing to say so, even if they have (as they say in Finland) “a mouth full of ugly things”

If its factual and a guy says he likes it then I don't personally think it's an insult. I understand why you would find it insulting though so it's not the kind of thing I would say without knowing it would be well recieved. That's more about tact though than whether or not the comment is an insult.

Although I'd never be so crude I can see a long term loving relationship where it could be taken as a complement. In my last very long relationship we use to complement each other sometimes in a way that could be insulting to others.
