"Some of the threads about socialising and the scene made me think that I love meeting new people all the time and have done so since I was young. I would almost go as far now as to say I "prefer" meeting people off the scene as I find most more liberated, easy going, life embracing and good fun to be with - whether I play with them or not. How do you feel about friendships from within the scene... are they different? " Absolutely! From the very beginning there's an ability to be open about a whole side of you (and vice versa) that the rest of the world never sees. It doesn't matter whether you play or not, being able to talk about intimate things akes a friendship a lot more meaningful. I also find I have a lot in common with a lot of people on here. Especially middle aged male half of couples. Everyone seems to be into sex, gymnastics and motorbikes. Win!

Actually I have a newly gained and possibly quite unhealthy interest in Harleys...;-) And you hit the nail on the head... there is no awkwardness in meeting

"I just like meeting people. I might be friendly with people 'on the scene' but it takes a while to feel anyone, here or out there, is a friend. I don't keep what I do a secret so I don't feel I am hiding part of myself. People I had thought of as friends here and out there have recently left me questioning the whole concept and what I expect from friends. Once I consider someone a friend I will always be there if I can be if they need me." Friendship from this site saved my bacon not long ago. A couple my partner and I had met a couple of times drove all the way from Lancaster to Manchester at 1am to move me and all my worldy possessions out of the house I'd just moved into that day and move me into their caravan. The male half even had work in the morning. If he hadn't done that for me then my new landlord, who had just admitted to being a woman beater and had started threatening me with a gun if I broke his house rules; was going to get a severe beating and then most likely land me in jail. All in all, there are some amazing people on here and even if my partner and I decided to stop swinging, I don't think I could give up the social side of this site as easily
